Whatevs So basically we're all agreed that it wasn't Liverpool's fault and that they're the real victims here?

So are you advocating a minute's silence or a minute's applause at their next home game?

Lawropn the BBC Lawrenson says he is baffled by some of the team selections and accuses manager Brendan Rodgers of changing his side "like he does his socks".

I seem to remember similar in his time at the mad stad

Worst start to a league campaign in 50 years.

Brendan Rodgers is a football genius.

tbf I think a number of teams are on lower points than 'normal'

United have less points under LVG than Moyes after comparable number of games (iirc)

Besiktas in the Europa League.

Cue the 'Turkish Delight' headlines.

Strange one this. Has nothing to prove in the game, more money than he can ever spend, retired from the England team so no Hodgson to impress, and getting regular game time at Liverpool. MLS honours mean very little in the grand scheme of things. And surely he was offered a one year extension by the club?

Big fish in small pond + get to play on for more years + cushy LA beachside lifestyle for your family.

also remember reading a former UTD player say he wanted to step away from the club for 3-4 years before hopefully being a coach there so he didnt go from being a player one day to coach the next. Thought he could have more impact after having a break, feeling fresh and some of the players not knocking him. Maybe Gerrard has the same idea.

He's too scouse to have a career as a pundit so he must be thinking what next. I'm surprised he hasn't got something lined up as a coach at Liverpool.

Maybe he has.

Thing is though, he's not the player he was, and he won't want to become more and more of a bit part player as his ability to influence games declines more and more.

Not suggesting he won't take the MLS seriously (he's far too much of a pro not to) but semi-retirement away from the pressures of Liverpool for 2 or 3 years seems bloody ideal to me.

Perhaps he'll do a Lampard and sign for an MLS team, then on loan to another Premiership outfit. Would love to see the scousers faces if he went to Man City too......

Moving away from Liverpool for a couple of years to widen his experience a little bit, whilst sampling the kind of benefits the MLS or elsewhere could offer, would make a lot of sense for someone who wants to do something in the game at a later date.

EDIT - He stressed: "I won't be playing for a competing club and will not therefore be lining up against Liverpool"

So that won't happen then!

I am making the assumption he will be just about the biggest name in the MLS. Even if the wages over there cant out do ours here then surely the sponsorship and one off opportunities there can?

Don't get me wrong. Gerrard has been one of the best midfielders in Prem history and probably the 3rd best English midfielder behind Lampard and Scholes. What I don't like is the mushy shit coming out of Liverpool fans mouths about him on my Facebook feed. Liverpool fans really are a 'special' bunch.

Some interesting views in this BBC piece after last nights win over an average League Two side.

http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/30691946

I've always been quite a Gerrard fan, and they will obviously miss him, but to say he dragged them through last night and that the goals were the only two moments of quality is overstating it quite a bit!

I think we're in for 5 months of this kind of thing.
