Hilarious. But never would have happened if they hadn't hoofed it on the turnover to give it straight back to Japan for the break back again.

Let that be a lesson. Pick the pass. Keep the ball

That was very unfortunate. England were the better team in the 2nd half and I liked their chances if it went to aet. This game called out for Kirby. With her speed, and tenacity, she could have been a difference maker. That was all rendered moot when Bronze pulled up lame and had to be subbed off. If England didn't have to make that change I think we would have seen Fran.

I really feel for England, and Bassett. I hate to see any game, never mind as big a game as this, decided like that. Was really looking forward to an England-US final...maybe in 2019.

Having just seen that, that is painfully unfortunate. She had to try and cut out the cross and the rest is just unlucky. Not an excuse, but you wonder if that would have panned out differently on a grass pitch.

I believe Staines Town FC host ladies games ( certainly had some televised on bt). Been a while since i've been there. Nice if pricey, for non league, bar there. I'm sure i'll pop into a game and see you there one day?

If Fran Kirby is that good - why didn't she start most games?

I'm glad England went out, it was a freak show from start to finish.

Ladies should be ladies not lesbatron, football chasing men wannabes. Don't get me wrong, I have respect for women but they don't belong on a football pitch.

The BBC would be insufferable if they had got to the final. Its gr8 news that we wont have to see an open top bus tour full of ladettes pretending that their men.

May they return to obscurity until 2019.

Yeah and the manager swallowed a football cliche book. Nearly as bad as BR.

It's just like watching the men when they get to knockout rounds, except, with them, they cock it up on the penalties.

One thing that bugged me during the build up to this mornings game was the talk of this team joining Robson's and Ramsey's in getting to a World Cup semi-final.

If they're going to start including this team in comparison with the mens why did all the media totally disregard the England team that actually won the world cup a few years ago?

That's not being a knocker of the womens game, just the over the top coverage.

Possibly as this is the only football of any standard the BBC could actually show live. I'm surprised they don't have a 24 hour World Cup channel.

They've got to big it up and I'm sure it's a big deal for the girls taking part but it's barely raised a comment in the ASS household.

Maybe, although it wasn't just the BBC, it was Sky and I think some of the papers too.
