This will presumably be met with a shrug of the shoulders by the vast majority of football fans....unless its another Paddy Power stunt

two negatives and all that.Snowflake Royal It can't be anything less than a big deal until a player being out isn't unusual.
Important and not something that wouldn't make any difference to you is quite different.

AthleticoSpizz All a bit meh to me.
Couldn’t care less if we had a whole team of gay footballers, as long as they were good footballers.
Times have changed, there is no real need for gay footballers to even have to make those massive statements to the general public these days (imho, of course).

Royal Rother It’s not old hat at all.
It should be but it most definitely is not.
Gay footballers are afraid to come out because they are fearful they will be treated differently by their team mates and supporters. And they are probably dead right.
Talkshite have had phone ins where some supporters have said they would not want gay men playing for their club.
It’ll change but it needs some very brave guys to start the ball rolling.

Spot on.
Fashanu did it years ago and it's now old hat.
Nobody cares if players are born- agains, catholics, muslims, black or yellow so being gay is a non-story.
