Four Of Clubs
Royals and Racers Gone to Marlow v Hanwell tonight- hoping for a decent game :)
Edit Marlow 0 Hanwell 1 - 1 from each team sent off after 9 mins after a scuffle. Hanwell by far the better team on the night.

...I was there too! 8) official att 170
Agreed - 'Blues' performance as soggy as the conditions - looked very stale and uninspiring. Hanwell did everything they needed to, to take the points - which in truth wasn't much - and stop Marlow going top (they'd only needed a point to do so)

Roads back were a bit grim - avoided threatened disruptions back down the A404 (M) on the return journey, by going cross-country to Henley, Wargrave and the A4 - plenty of scope for aquaplaning :? - especially on the A4155 beyond Henley College and again up towards Wargrave. Fortunately there was very little traffic so I could stay fairly central & weave between the large verge-side puddles gathering.

Relatively busy NL night elsewhere:

FAC 4Q Replays
Guiseley 2-1 Brackley
Hayes & Yeading 2-2 Dorking W (4-3 pens)
Folkestone 2-3 Eastleigh att 1237
Yate P-P Dover - some lighting issues - all back on by 20:20 but Dover refused to start.......

SLP-S
Dorchester 3-2 Hartley W
Kings Langley 0-2 Harrow Boro
Salisbury 1-2 Chesham
SLP-C
Banbury 3-2 Leiston - 'Puritans' winner so late, both official sites missed it and initially showed result as 2-2! :D
Supermarine 0-1 Taunton
SL1-S
Winchester 0-1 Highworth - 'Worthians' up to 5th - veteran marksman Ash Edenborough with the only goal

IL1-SC
Ashford T 1-2 Chertsey
Northwood 0-1 Basingstoke - 'Dragons' up to 6th level on 16 points with Hanwell and Binfield, with 2 games in hand - above them are leaders Uxbridge, Marlow and Bracknell grouped together on 19 points

...not much of note going on locally below STEP04 tonight:
Risborough drew 2-2 at Oxhey in SSM-P, whilst Long Crendon bt Penn & T 2-1 in Division 1
Alresford bt Bournemouth (Poppies) 3-2 in WESS-P - and down in Division One, Whitchurch grabbed a rare away win 1-3 at Fleet Spurs.

Why on earth did Dover refuse to start? Hoping that the game be given to them? Why would they want to travel down there again? They are really becoming a horrible club and detested throughout non league football.

20.30 was the deadline and all was fixed at 20.34 and home team, the ref and the FA were all in agreement to play. Dover are just pathetic !!!

...corrected on FullTime now - unless it was me not reading it properly in the first place -- more than likely as the goals weren't that late in the game.....

Just back from the Bracknell v Chipstead game
Should have been a lot closer on paper but Bracknell did them 5.0 quite easily
Great seeing Bottom Meadow redeveloped so well and now leans to a nice lower pyramid set up,cracking little clubhouse now compared to the old shambles which we had previously

You had Lea Barkus as manager and then as spotted by my lad Chris Gunter with his family watching behind the goal

‘Local derby’ Maidenhead 3 Woking 2 sounded fun....probably a decent attendance too.

90th minute winner from Barratt as part of his brace.

A much needed win for Alan Devonshire and his set-up

...made it to Stansted 1-1 Wivenhoe 4-1pens at FT just about by KO - no real hold-ups other than the usual nonsense trying to escape 'ding and then locating a convenient parking spot.
Very small semi-enclosed affair - modest clubhouse outside - no food provided today - so needed a quick trudge to the nearby chippy at H/T
- Hosts probably only still at STEP05 cos they haven't been relegated from what I can see - they appear to have been an ever-present in the Essex Senior League since the early 70s - so doubt the 'Ground Graders' have ever been a-calling?
- The Ground is more or less all open down one side, where there is a Cricket Pitch.
Entrance really hidden away off the main road (B1383) up through Stansted Mountfitchet - so a fair distance from the Airport.
Parking a bit of an issue but plenty of street spaces not too far away, once you get off the main road - I followed a big 'P' sign hoping for something more formal, only to discover it was being built on - so had to back-track!
Had dropped my mate off on first arrival and found him skulking in the bar, when I finally got back to the ground. The STEP06 visitors are from the Eastern Counties League Div One South (oddly enough I'd have said they were more deeply seated in Essex than the 'Airportmen' - and have had a more noteworthy recent history in League terms - spent 20 plus years up in the Isthmian - including a spell at what is now STEP03.
Stansted of course actually won the Vase itself, at Wembley back in 83-84. Beat Wivenhoe on the way to the Final too that season.
The game was pretty evenly fought, both goals coming very late on.
- mercifully this season the FA Vase is 'straight to pens @ FT, so we weren't hanging about too much. M'ways clear on return, indoors well before 19:00, to see the 'Blue Mancs' finish off the Seagulls

NAT
Aldershot Town 2-3 Bromley
Eastleigh 2-1 Altrincham
Maidenhead United 3-2 Woking - no official attendance showing anywhere yet that I've found – suspect the late KO threw most of the on-line sources ?
- Sam Barratt’s 2nd wins it on on 90’ for ‘Magpies’ – ‘Cards’ reduced to 10 men around the hour mark whilst leading 2-1 – Josh Kelly had levelled on 76’

- Chesterfield 2-1 Boreham W at the Technique Stadium in front of 5.5k – the ‘Spireites’ hop over BW to 2nd behind Grimsby who bt Yeovil 2-0.
NATS
Bath City 0-2 St Albans City
Billericay Town 0-1 Tonbridge Angels

Maidenhead v Woking crowd reported as a meagre 1165 in the NLP...seems a bit low to me for such a revered ‘local derby’ DD said* it was more 2k

Being televised and a Saturday evening kick off probably played its part in that low figure?

standard gate really. Tends to be 900-1000 + away fans. Maid had 2 points from 8 games, on the telly, regular oppo. Might get more like 1500 tonight v Wrexham.

Was at York Road on Saturday. Always enjoy a visit. Very welcoming place.

As mentioned, cracking entertainment. Scenes at the final whistle. Kids managed to get pics with all the players after the game and even Dev himself lol.

...seems that the lower levels are off on a Cup midweek again - as indeed they seem to be next midweek too - which is a bit of crimp cos I'm having that week off....

Tonight (Tue 26th) - STEPS 1-4 sees home games for Hungerford, Sluff and the Sh!ts - as well as Bracknell up at Chertsey and Binfield at Ashford (Mx). Winchester face a trek across to Frome.

...sort of a derby at Amy La where Beaconsfield visit Chesham but not an awful lot else on locally - unless you count the CCL Premier Cup ties - at Eversley, Farnham, Berks Co (Binfield), Sheerwater & Wallingford.
An improved Tadley might be up against it depending upon squad strength ... as they are due to host Jersey Bulls

Since I've finished work fairly early today (study day - at my age! ) I might well traipse over to 'The Windsors' - no! - not to drop some Mackeson off to 'Brenda' but to watch:

SSM-P Risborough v Flackwell - see how the 'Heathens' do vs the high flyers Rangers now dear ol' Marcus has left them.

...tomorrow night (Wed) if energy levels are still OK, I'm thinking about going for IL1-SC Bedfont Sports v Thatcham
...doubtless they are f£(&ing about with the M4 though - so might have to try and work out another route - tricky?

Bracknell Town fixture at Chertsey abandoned right near the end, no idea why. Odd.

UPDATE

Heard it is because there was a fight on the touchline (not sure if it was supporters or players). Referee lost control and abandoned it. Two red cards shown.

2 red cards for Chertsey, then the Chertsey player / manager went into the crowd and decked someone.

One would imagine all hell let loose then!

Report from a neutral on NLM from Alwyns La, Chertsey : (hope this works - I don't think I've tried a direct link to a post there before ?)

...meanwhile I managed to get up to 'The Windsors' - now called the BEP Stadium (?) or suchlike for

SSM-P Risborough Rangers 1-0 Flackwell Heath att 202 - ground didn't seem crowded though Car Park was a bit rammed.
- most of the spectators here, tend to stand down one side up against the fairly small clubhouse - few seats and another very small covered stand over the far side by the dugouts.
RR looked functional rather than exceptional, though they're unbeaten, sit 2nd, a point behind leaders Leighton and with 4 games in hand. Suggest they are functioning quite well 8) - not sure when they were last beaten in a league game - what with lockdown I suspect it may have been some time ago.
'Heathens' are evidently re-grouping/re-building now they shifted leagues from the Hellenic (as have Risborough - though they had moved the other way from SSML to HELL quite recently) and Marcus R has departed
- FH looked a bit youthful and very shot-shy. When they did open up and seek a leveller, 2nd half they looked quite useful but badly need an 'old head' up front: someone to lead the line - ironically the sort of thing 'big bad Marcus' used as a Plan X - when he was still a 'playing' player manager. Would bring himself on - lumber about, fall on people , cause mayhem and usually one of the other forwards scored amongst the chaos.

..will review the other midweek scores tomorrow/later - 'Magpies' won a thriller vs Parky's Wrexham - where the story was all about the Celeb owners turning up for the visitors..... featured at length on BBC Radio 5
