In the FA Cup Preliminary Round Replay Fleet Town cantered past Wincanton 4-1 at Calthorp Pk
- I was there: att 281 - journey out was a bit fraught 'cos someone is digging up Fleet Rd, out of Hartley W. which meant a fairly tortuous diversion along the narrow lanes of Dogmersfield and Crookham.
- The Wessex league visitors grabbed a surprise lead early 2nd half.
- Fleet levelled almost instantly thru Dean Rule (ex-Farnham) - who grabbed a 2nd from the spot not long after. The score was given a fine late gloss, with the introduction of Dan Bone - who promptly grabbed a brace and was only denied a remarkable added-time hat-trick, by a very good save.
Fleet look good going forward having snapped up a few local lads from Farnham (Rule as above and Smith) Baggy Lea and Alton as well as Kandi- ex-Sh!ts
- also rumoured to be after a couple more players from last seasons' runaway Champions - Farnham.
- winners will host AFC Stoneham or Millbrook in the 1st Q Round on 31st. The Southampton-based sides need to do it all again as the lights went out at half-time in their replay last night.

Lower down the leagues (CCL) there was a huge win for NGU 7-1 over Milton; Berks Co continue to struggle, went down 0-3 at 'home' to Amersham. Wallingford & Crowmarsh edged past the 'Sumas' at Hithercroft 2-1.
In the Southern section Guildford picked up an impressive 4-2 win at Abbey: Cor-Cas were beaten 0-1 at home by Knaphill and Sheerwater lost by the odd goal in seven away at Tooting & M.
In Div One there were wins for leaders Windsor & Eton 2-0 at Bedfont and Penn & T 4-2 over Langley.
Windsor drew 1-1, Holmer G. & Chalfont St P. both suffering home defeats (to Brook Ho & Westside).

Tonight (Wed) in the Hellenic Prem Highworth and 'Mangoes' fought out a 1-1 draw in front of just over 130.

...my mate 'Ol/Young Phil' was there too - the Emmbrook 'Ultra' - told me he got a bit flustered writing in his notebook what with all the touchline excitement - he also thought the game had ended 3-2 to 'port.
He couldn't comprehend why Hillingdon players would have got so animated if the score was 5-0 - so assumed he'd miscounted correctly!
Saw him this PM (Sun) at Lowther Rd alongside an associate of R&R who introduced himself.

We MUST stop not meeting like this !
...and I was there too for my first game of the 'BH double'- v.late decision to go - wasn't confident about the state of the M25, nor Ashford Town's pitch being ready for their 'lodgers' to have first go on it this AM (seems it was) - so did a last minute dive off the M4 at jn 6 to this.

Wasn't a great game indeed - official attendance given at 601.
Actually thought the 'exiles/forebears/interlopers' whatever they are to be known as now - had far better of the game but possessed nothing up top.
Complete contrast to W&E who had the big Polish fellah Kowallkowski to thank for an individual piece of strength and finisse to grab the only goal just before the break.

Dashed back down the M4 for Match ii) and watched Supermarine - been struggling badly as they did at the start of last term - upset the 'Crusaders' 2-0 at Bulpit La. I doubt the Ref endeared himself to the home crowd but the Hungerford players let his occasionally questionable decision-making get to them and they stopped playing the ball and started playing the officials, to no avail.
Supermarine took advantage especially 2nd half against 10 men and in fact turned in a fairly decent performance.

The Windsor No 11 (I think it was 11 but yellow numbers on predominantly white shirts don’t work too well) was a bit cocky mouthy but was the MOTM, hard to disposses, good passer, skills aplenty, just couldn’t shoot.)

W&E just looked happy to sit back and soak up pressure for most of the 2nd half knowing that W didn’t have any thing up top. Pretty disappointing approach really against a very young team. Still an ugly 3 points keeps top spot so doubt they care much.

What a great little club- a pig to find but game of cricket behind the clubhouse, tennis courts and Rebellion on !!!! Looking forward to this derby- less than 3 miles between the 2 clubs

What a great little club- a pig to find but game of cricket behind the clubhouse, tennis courts and Rebellion on !!!! ....

... should have given you a shout out to seek out the P&T sec. assuming you didn't encounter him?
- Andreas- lovely fellah - is somewhat of a frustrated 'hopper'.
His enthusiasm for the grassroots game evolved beyond just watching to helping out his local team - shows some commitment there.
Seen him at a few other E.Berks and of course Bucks NL grounds, over the years. He confided in me that he'd still rather like to get to more grounds/games but had willingly tied himself closely to a more direct involvement with a particular club.

Agree P&T is well-hidden and has come on a good deal since my earlier days of coming here. Back then they used the open Pitch furthest from the club house.
Are very proud of their lights ... and have always had a thriving youth set up.

Cba-ism rife for me this midweek so stayed on the sofa - I really need to give up work ....
admittedly there wasn't a huge choice Tue/Wed following a BH ....but 'missed' a 19-1 @ Cricklade too!
