Gutted for Andy Mangan. A coach very highly thought of, currently at Stockport, he was offered the chance to move to Real Madrid - after Carlo Ancelotti's son Davide, who took his coaching qualifications alongside Mangan, recommended him to the club.

All now up in smoke as he can't get a work permit - apparently because he is still fairly new to coaching, only retiring from playing a few years ago, and can't prove the requisite experience. Good old Brexit.

**Breaking News**

FC Cartagena announce new manager.

Alejandro Fernandez aka 'jandro' takes over. He took over at Amorebieta in December, and while they were ultimately relegated, he was seen to have done a pretty decent job in turning around their form and giving them a real fighting chance of survival up until the penultimate game of the season. before he came in they had won just 3 games, in the final 12 games of the season they lost just 3 and won 6 of them

Ian Holloway in at Swindon.
Expect a bit of initial improvement in their fortunes but will it be maintained?

Only needs 11 games to reach the “1000 games managed’ mark.

Absolutely insane stuff.

I don't know why people who get such payouts bother to even go again. I would buy a beach house, maybe even two. Sometwhere in the Carribean, or maybe Southern Spain, overlooking the sea or mountains, a big swimming pool, TV in the garden and endless beer and wine whilst having daily bbqs.

Better than rainy Manchester, being hounded continually by Neville, Linekar, the media, fans, the owners and everyone else.

This has always been my take on it - and yet they almost always do go again, generally with reputation gradually going down and down.

I think you gotta have a reason to get up in the morning other than to loaf but yeah, screw that occupation - if some twats have been daft enough to pay you a few million to leave their ridiculously overpaid (yet acknowledged high-pressure bastard of a) job that is of zero importance in the real world - just smirk at your bank balance and find something more pleasant to do.

Yep, and when I think that you need a purpose or you'll just become a drunk and go mental, I think that it must be way more pleasurable to use the money to do something you enjoy.

E.g. he's a football guy, so he could open a football academy, or a charity place which focuses on where he grew up, or a particular demographic, he could just go into the media, join in with a coaching program which is not elite level and therefore not the same pressure.

All these guys must just have a certain part which they want to be seen and on the world stage - whcih I do get. But just not in the toxic elite football leagues. It must be so demoralising and even when you win, it must just be a very small period of joy before you then have another game or issues with money, owners, sponsors etc.
