Atletico Mineiro into the Copa Libertadores final after beating River Plate 3-0 on agg. They have only made it to the final once before in their history. They will almost certainly play fellow Brazilians Botafogo in the final, who have the 2nd leg of their semi tonight, but won the first leg 5-0

38 year old Hulk playing for Alletico Mineiro last night. looking at his numbers he has actually done pretty well since going back to Brazil 4 years ago

Atletico Mineiro are 10th in the Brazilian league and look to be on a dodgy run of form, whereas Botafogo are 3 points clear at the top with 7 games left to play

Cba to Google it but wasn't there a team last season who were about 20 points ahead and bottled the league?

Botafogo. The nearly men of Brazilian football. often in the chasing pack but rarely ever deliver. 2 league titles in their history.

Were flying high top of the league with 6 weeks left to go, then failed to win any of their last 10 matches, ending up in 5th place.

Final day in the League Of Ireland season today.

Damien Duff's Shelbourne sit 2 points clear of Shamrock Rovers, but with a worse GD, so only a win may guarantee the title.

Both teams playing away, Shelbourne at 4th place Derry who have gone on a terrible run of form recently and also have 1 eye on the cup final next week.

Would be some achievement for Shelbourne to win the title. Duff took over at the start of the 2022 season with the club having just been promoted. He got them safe in 7th place, then last season they finished 4th, now they have a chance of being champions.

He also looks a little different these days

35 mins to go, Shamrock winning, Shelbourne drawing. Shamrock top on GD.

There aren't, to my mind anyway, many stories these days of players developing late - but Viktor Gyokeres is one of them, at 26 years old. Less than 18 months ago he was playing for Coventry City in the Championship play-off final, now he has 59 goals in 65 games for Sporting Lisbon, and is being spoken of as an attacking target for both Arsenal and Liverpool. Phenomenal stuff.

Two more for Harold Kane yesterday, he now has 47 goals in 41 games in the Bundesliga. Erling Haaland currently the fastest to 50 goals in the German top division, in 50 games.

Destined to be Utd's next big flop.

Hat-trick against City won't have done him any harm :D £80m in January, or do they wait for the summer?

He was originally “found” by Brighton though they couldn’t wait for him to “develop” and loaned then sold him to Coventry. Surprised PL clubs didn’t go back in for him as soon as he and Hamer started ripping up the Championship. Coventry sold him for only €24m in the end.

They’ll probably still go and win the bloody thing but gotta love the Real Madrid / Mbappe crapshow right now.

Next for them in the CL is a trip to the ‘pool which should be very entertaining.

Marc McNulty now plays for Shamrock. He contributed 1 goal and 9 appearances after joining them in August after leaving The Spartans.

It's almost like changing your formation to fit in a player that you don't need has a negative effect on team performance.

I couldn't be happier. Mbappe is a quality player, but his club career is a whole lot of meaningless nothing. Think what he could do at a United, or Milan, or any of a whole host of clubs that aren't the homogenous mass that is CityRealPSG.
