I think the assist was more impressive than the goal itself and that wasn't particularly special.

The over-hyping of top players has happened for a while. Think about some of the goals Messi or Ronaldo scored which people describe as amazing, when people wouldn't've thought much had a random, generic player scored it. It just feels like a form of confirmation bias, where people are attempting to validate their pre-held beliefs of Haaland being amazing; no-one would draw that from most other players scoring a goal like that. The only thing Haaland has done here which an average player may not be able to do is get his foot high enough to make good contact with the ball.

I actually find Haaland a bemusing player. His goalscoring record obviously speaks for itself but he reminds me of Boris Johnson playing rugby against those Japanese school kids.
