BRO_BOT Didn't give a pen for a blatant pull against the Villa player either...persistent

Trouble with that one is there have been multiple similar incidents recently and the powers that be have said if it's fleeting then it's not a foul, seems like they've made a rod for their own backs there but it makes sense that it wasn't given. Surprised Coote didn't give it anyway though!

Nunez was on the end of a similar “pull” in the Villa box in the first minute or so but rightly neither were given. Really rather peed off with all the constant IFAB law fiddling, all it does is create confusion and ruins games as spectacles with all the tedious arguing. Refereeing will sadly always have an element of subjectivity about it and refs should just be left to apply common sense (+ more referees should be ex professionals and there shouldn’t be a retirement age - if an official can pass the physical tests then they should carry on as long as they want).

I don't have an issue with what Coote said 4 years ago even if it was a bit daft.
I have an issue with his poor refereeing and in that Burnley game that has been mentioned they were constantly fouling the Liverpool players and he kept waving play on..

This weekend he was IMHO in the wrong for not sending Bailey off-last man, preventing a clear goal scoring opportunity outside the area means a red card .

I didn't remember until today that he was the ref who didn't penalise the Odegaard hand ball v Liverpool last season.

So, regardless of what he has said, probably when pissed, he is a crap referee and would not be greatly missed.

It didn't prevent a goal-scoring opportunity though, you scored!

No but apparently he was indicating no foul before Nunez scored and I believe Dermot Gallagher was saying on Sky he couldn’t understand why. Luckily for Liverpool it was irrelevant as Nunez scored. Perhaps Coote just isn’t a very good referee. :?

But it did prevent Salah's goal scoring opportunity.
IMHO it is a foul and a sending off but that c**t Coote didn't bother, not even a yellow.

I don't think your opponent can score a goal and you be sent off for denying a goal-scoring opportunity (even if Nunez misses)

but...

If Nunez doesn't get the ball then, yeah, Bailey has got to go! He should still get a yellow for the foul

^This.

Bailey is not in a million years getting a red for denying a goalscoring opportunity when Coote has played on and then there has been a goalscoring opportunity. If Nunez hadn't got the ball, Bailey would have been sent off by VAR.

Yes, it is still a foul even if he allowed Liverpool supposed advantage and even though Nunez scored.
Often though refs forget to go back and book a player after allowing advantage.

Correct. And the reverse scenario also, if the ref decides a red card is being given he can't play advantage (there is a rule that says you can but only if like the ball is pretty much rolling over the line or summat) in case that player is then involved in play before the next stoppage.

I am very much here for Spurs fans suddenly going 180 and being all over Ange as the best thing ever to now wanting him out

Some Spurs fan account on twitter:
This is insanity. We have lost 17 of his last 39 matches - we have lost 5 of 11 this season and we have only won 4 away games in a year (2 against 10 men) - we have fallen behind in 13 of our last 15 home games and we still have to face City (twice), Liverpool (twice), Chelsea (twice) and go to the emirates. He has also spent £400m in 1.5 seasons, more than any manager of Spurs EVER. You are off you bonce if you think he deserves more time

Fair points though, however I don’t get why it bothers Spurs fans really as it’s what Spurs are all about, it’s their DNA. You don’t support Spurs and expect to win things.

Spurs' Rodrigo Bentancur gets a seven match ban for a comment made on Uruguayan TV that implied that all Koreans look the same.

It related to a TV interview that Bentancur gave in June while on international duty with Uruguay. In it, he was asked to provide a shirt belonging to a Spurs player. “Sonny’s?” Bentancur replied. “It could be Sonny’s cousin too as they all look the same.”

Maybe punishment is a touch harsh, but the PL needs to be strong and consistent on this stuff.

Nothing for Enzo Fernandez though?
