Sanguine
Royal Rother They’ll probably still go and win the bloody thing but gotta love the Real Madrid / Mbappe crapshow right now.

It's almost like changing your formation to fit in a player that you don't need has a negative effect on team performance.

I couldn't be happier. Mbappe is a quality player, but his club career is a whole lot of meaningless nothing. Think what he could do at a United, or Milan, or any of a whole host of clubs that aren't the homogenous mass that is CityRealPSG.

Club is a sleeping giant, their time will come again.

I know this is a bit of a one man crusade of mine, but it would be great if the top players got a bit more imaginative.

Sadly many top players only get as imaginative as the £s will allow.

Pepe the Horseman
Pepe the Horseman Destined to be Utd's next big flop.

Hat-trick against City won't have done him any harm :D £80m in January, or do they wait for the summer?

He was originally “found” by Brighton though they couldn’t wait for him to “develop” and loaned then sold him to Coventry. Surprised PL clubs didn’t go back in for him as soon as he and Hamer started ripping up the Championship. Coventry sold him for only €24m in the end.

Apparently Everton were in for him but he turned them down.

Very sensible lad.
Still, Everton have Beto now, signed for around £25 million. :D .

Real Madrid beat Osasuna 4-0 courtesy of a Vini Jr hat trick and the first goal of the season from Jude Bellingham.

Eder Militao looks to be the latest player to tear his ACL (his second ACL tear in two seasons). Leaves them with Antonio Rudiger as their only fit centre back. They also lost Lucas Vazquez and Rodrygo through injury.

Best 2 teams in Serie A (Napoli & Inter) play each other this evening and it's on TNT Sports if you wanna watch it

1-1 at HT. McTominey for Napoli. He has been really good. Man Utd could do with someone like him.

Las Palmas were bottom of La Liga and winless. New manager comes in and they have won 4 of the first 5 games under him in all comps.

Uproar in Argentina as Riestra start their match on Monday against league leaders Velez Sarsfield with a minecraft youtuber in the XI

He was subbed off after 1 minute. The club owner says this was his decision and he signed a contract for this lad to play some time back. Many players and managers speaking out against it saying how disrespectful it is.

Those running Ligue 1 failed to accept Lyon's business plan to balance their finances and the club have been 'provisionally' relegated to Ligue 2, whatever that means.

If they can't pay their debts by the end of the seasons they'll be relegated even if they finish top

I think the owner also owns crystal palace

Palace, Botafogo, Molenbeek & Lyon

Cannot believe Cherki is still there. If they just sold him before they would have brought in good money. Fofana too.

Surely the level of debt is irrelevant, it’s their ability to service the debt.

I’d imagine a chunk of their debt came from building their new ground ahead of Euro 2016 - although I imagine there was some outside funding.

I don’t see how relegating them to Ligue 2 would help them repay the debt.

I suspect they won't get relegated. They will sell Cherki & Fofana, and the owner will get money from Palace and Botafogo sales and it will keep them going

Schalke onto their 2nd permanent manager (3rd manager incl an interim) of the season.

A win last weekend sees them 1 point outside of the relegation zone in the 2nd division

I remember hearing that the Bundesliga and the broadcaster had to have a meeting when Schalke went down from the top division as it was so seismic for the league. They are (were) the 2nd most supported club in the country and have a big history. Seems weird to see them now fighting to avoid dropping into division 3

How have they managed to get in the mess they are in, is it just bad luck, players and management or are there other factors.

Shambolic decision making, but also a couple of hefty slices of very bad luck.

6 years ago they were runners up in the Bundesliga, but it sounds like they had a couple of disastrous years of transfers, both in and out, and immediately after that covid happened which hit their finances really badly too. They went down, came back up with their finances still not in great shape, then Russia invaded Ukraine, the German govt imposed sanctions on Russia and so Schalke had to cut ties with their main sponsor, Gazprom.

If they do get relegated then it's been said their financial situation breaks the rules of the 3rd division so they would drop to the 4th, the highest regional amateur level, and all players, coaches and directors contracts would be cancelled.
