Cannot believe how bad Nunez is being. Even for him this is comically bad

I expect Amorim will be in for him in the summer looking for a bargain.

Reckon Nunez is done at Liverpool after that. Not only dropping the usual clangers on the pitch but was apparently laughing and joking with Martinez at the final whistle and then sloped off the pitch rather than going over to acknowledge the fans with the rest of the players.

Nunez and Werner have provided a lot of laughs over the last couple of years. It’ll be a shame to lose them.

Yeah, some suggestion that Slot went too far in his post match comments by singling him out (a little) - but he must have been absolutely fuming.

A rare misstep from Slot last night I thought. The experiment of starting Jones wide didn't work. And taking TAA off at an hour, whilst pre-planned, wasn't in sync with his growing impact on the game.

A draw at Villa is not a poor result, but increases the squeakiness of Liverpool bums, I guess. All sides will drop more points before the end of the season, and Arsenal go to Forest next Weds. But fail to win at City on Sunday and Liverpool could be managing a much smaller gap at the top going into March.

Side note - the one-footedness of players continues to make my eye twitch. Slot partially excused Nunez's miss as 'he is right footed'. And at least twice that I recall, Salah has the ball with just one defender between him and the keeper and tried to move into a crowded space on to his left foot. One in particular, he had plenty of room to move right and take a shot with his weaker foot.

Tremendous ... keeps United within 32 points, although they do have a game in hand

Just want a title race to try and keep it interesting

Preferably with Liverpool not winning (unlikely)

Liverpool look to have the most restful March schedule with no games at all between the end of the League Cup Final on 16 March and the draining return fixture v Everton on 2nd April

Of course, like other PL clubs, nearly all their squad will be jetting around the world for international games between 17 and 28 March so sadly the “break” won’t be that refreshing for any club’s players which will be a real shame for the domestic competitions.

Yeah, at a time when Liverpool's players are looking a little low on energy - Salah excepted, that break, on a club basis at least, will be welcome.

For Salah - Egypt play the day after the League Cup final, so assume he will only be involved in one game over that break, they host Sierra Leone a week later.

European games also seem to be squeezed into one week - England play 21st and 24th March - and so players will get a week off after that.

Have to take it with a small pinch of salt given the shenanigans involved in this stuff but 'a respected and well-sourced' Egyptian journalist has said that Liverpool's initial contract offer to Mo Salah was for a lower salary than he is on right now.

If Salah, TAA and Van Dijk all leave in the summer, Richard Hughes will have to quit.

For some reason I still just assume VVD and Salah will stay, and all this talk is just noise around them getting the contracts they want.

Would be quite mad if they both leave this summer (along with TAA who i assume has already agreed to join another club)

Can’t see FSG being too popular either, would expect ructions from various supporter groups if that did happen. Only way out would be for the club to spend spend spend on world class replacements which would rather defeat the object of these utterly embarrassing attempts to get them to re-sign in the first place.

Indeed. A lot of talk that Liverpool will target Isak if Salah leaves - but if there's anything in that he'd probably cost the club much more than Salah would.

I think it's telling with TAA that he is never put in front of the cameras, and as the club vice-captain. I think he's off and the club already know it.

Liverpool unbeaten in 15 away games this season. Only Preston (1888/89), Arsenal (2001/02, 2003/04) and United (2020/21) have completed top flight seasons without losing on the road.

Dreadful performance tbf, not sure what the reason was, they looked incredibly tired which is nonsense for professional footballers as ever even if they had to play on Tuesday. You could argue that the kids in last year's final were more effective, maybe should have started some youth? Having said that, well done Newcastle, apparently I heard somewhere that they hadn't won anything for 70 years, mental if true!
