Pepe the Horseman
Pepe the Horseman Sheff Utd absolutely battering Leeds in the first 20 mins. Only 1-0, but could easily be 3.

And of course Leeds get another late winner

Fcuking Pcunts.

leon Man City appear to be giving Liverpool the title.

Christ they’re dull.

Got pelters for having that opinion for a while, glad more are sharing it!

Been a dreadful watch for about three years now

How Pep thought that was a good performance when they just went from side to side on the edge of the box for 90 minutes is beyond me. Doku the only one looking to actually be direct and try something (albeit unsuccessfully). He’ll be back on the bench next game, not robotic enough

windermereROYAL
Sutekh
windermereROYAL There`s no doubting that Liverpool deserve this, but massively helped for me by Mo and Mikel`s horrendous mismanagement coupled with losing their entire first choice forward line.
When Salah moves to Saudi in the summer for his final payday Liverpool will be like a one legged man entering an arse kicking competition, I really do feel that is the impact he`s had on them in their recent history.
They`ll certainly be challenging, but running away with it like this season?
Zero chance.

Latest rumours are that Salah will be getting a new 2 year deal so may not be going anywhere in the summer, I’m also fairly sure that, like any elite club, Liverpool won’t get shot of their best player without bringing in a suitable replacement but until what happens happens no-one can judge what team will be where this time next year.

He`s 33 now, can`t Liverpool offer him a million tax free a week, He`ll want a big payday before he hangs up his boots, he won`t get that here.
VVD might be tempted too.

Salah is not actually 33 until June, also don’t think he’s particularly driven by money so wouldn’t surprise me if Liverpool did get him to re-sign for a couple of years.

The AE Brains Trust were all over this last year.

leon Fcuk me Man City are tedious to watch

Pep has made football really boring to watch over the last 10-15 years

Dreadful football that relies purely on having the best players at passing and control and stifling the opposition like an insidious pond weed.

This was at least why Klopps Dortmund side were so refreshing as they played an entirely different way that relied on attacking and energy. He then had to ruin it by joining the Scouse thieves......

Certainly all of Liverpool's challengers have fallen away. Only thing with the 'gifted the title' stuff, is that Liverpool can still reach 97 points, and even maintaining their current PPG would see them top 90 points, which would have been enough to win (for example) every PL title between 2006-07 and 2015-16. City's recent obliteration of the league, and Liverpool going with them a couple of times, has somewhat reset the narrative around what a title winning season should look like.

agree. I like sometimes looking back at old seasons and seeing how 'poor' some things look in todays standards

first ever PL season was won by Man Utd who got 84 points, but that was in a 42 game season. if you take that points per game and put it across a 38 game season you are looking at winning the league with 76 points. lol

maybe the disparities between teams in the league at that point weren't as great and a lower points total indicates a more competitive league??

You've got a decent history of silly opinions on here - can add to it now the notion that Slot has no imprint on this team. They are playing a totally different style of football, for a start.

How is it different? I haven't really watched them enough to know

props to Klopp (etc) for replacing your entire midfield the season before and it all working.

Well for a start, Gravenberch - the key part of that new midfield - is ten times the player he was under Klopp. They started the season debating Endo, now Gravenberch is arguably second on the teamsheet after Salah. Liverpool's press is much less aggressive. The rotation of players between midfield and the forward lines is different.

So what your saying is Klopp wouldn't have found that about Graven each and Liverpool wouldn't win the league this season with no competition or pressure?

Klopp had Gravenberch for a season and hadn’t noted it because he doesn’t play in entirely the same way as detailed by Ascot. Slot’s team also, apparently, are very up on the training regime suitable for their style and are able to minimise injuries so they get less of them and when they do arise players aren’t being sidelined for months. The point is that Slot has made changes to Klopp’s style, he favours a double pivot, his side press but only when it makes the most sense to do so, the defence is more solid and they’re able to turn out relaxed performances without panicking (look at how many times they’ve recovered points from losing situations and the way they seemed to be in such a “low gear” yet still able to outclass Citeh). Most intelligent of all was the appointment of Slot in the first place as he’s been able to seamlessly adapt Klopp’s style into his way with the players available so none of the “all change” that you can get at other clubs. That doesn’t mean there won’t be changes made in the summer (they could do with extra cover in defence and at DM, I’m sure they must realise Nunez is not quite the answer, Robertson and Tsimikas are starting to look a bit ropey at times and they’ll probably lose TAA to Real).

^That.

I know Ascot here is the resident expert in 'silly playground opinion you can grab off of Twitter', but the notion that Slot has just inherited and replicated Klopp's squad and tactics is proper head in the sand stuff.

Yeah, Utd were Champions when Moyes took over! I thought LFC's transition would be as difficult but apparently not

"How are you going to improve us, boss?"
"Ye can run harder."
"oh"

It must have been late on - playing Fulham at OT - and all they did was ping in crosses onto Dan Burn's head.

For all United's attacking play and 81 crosses, the most by a Premier League team since 2006,

I remember seeing a joke heat map for Burn. Just a big red circle on the penalty spot.

Yeah, that games is a standout from that period. We just spammed crosses into the box with very little chance of converting

But the classic Moyes quote:

In terms of numbers, we're not that far off LFC in what has been our worst period in the prem (performances a different matter obvs)

Peterborough came from 2-0 down, including with a 91st minute equaliser, to take Wrexham to penalties in the EFL Trophy last night - before winning on penalties. Saves us from a Birmingham-Wrexham final.

Carlisle got a win last night, and that was after 2 draws beforehand. Mark Hughes getting them moving. they are now 2 points away from being out of the relegation zone
