Finished his career there. Would imagine he's getting quite the wage hike and probably a big bonus should they avoid relegation/big bonus should they bounce back next year.

Don't* understand the hate Rooney gets. He is clearly trying his best to be a manager and he's taking jobs at the lower end of the pyramid or at clubs who are struggling, to cut his teeth, rather than being parachuted into a job he has no business taking.

2020–2022 Derby County
2022–2023 D.C. United
2023–2024 Birmingham City
2024 Plymouth Argyle
2025 Salford

This is the reverse of the Peter Principle

By some accounts, he is a personable and popular manager amongst the players and staff…..had some degree of success at a despondent Derby for a while.

Reckon Salford is a great level for his own personal ‘great reset’
He may never become one of the FL’s best managers, but then, how many actually do?

Like Hendo, don't really understand the predictable pile-ons

Fair play to him sticking his head above the parapet again but it feels like he would benefit more from going in as an assistant/coach somewhere for a couple of seasons.

How is he a flat track bully?

And don’t say because he scored against lots of shit premier league clubs, because that’s how it works. The beautified Thierry Henry made a career out of it.

Presumably looking at next season after a year of dreadful home form? Barnsley are 8 points outside the play offs having just 10 games left. Our last game of the season though - in case we have a new manager bounce to fend off.

Yeah, not sure I understand that being levelled at Rooney at all. If I recall correctly, Ian has been scathing in the past about his tournament scoring record for England. He got 40 Champions League goals for United, and 208 Premier League goals of which only 23 penalties. Good record against all the big clubs except Liverpool (just 7 goals in 30 games).

And anyway - if you can't bully mediocre sides, you aren't one of the best anyway.

I'm sure you could give a similar argument for Andy Cole, in the PL anyway, perhaps not the Champions League.

Given the relative trajectories of their careers, it seems to be clear that the "success" at Derby can be attributed more to Rosenior's coaching than Rooney.
