Seal Also if you complete take away that rage do you lesson the player?

I'm of the belief that it should, with great care and attention, be possible to stop Wayne Rooney kicking people, while taking nothing away from the way he kicks footballs.

It's scientifically proven that being frustrated affects concentration.

Sorting out that petulance should only have positive effects on his overall game.

It should be clear that the aggression that marks Rooneys style isn't really the same thing as being angry and frustrated when things don't go his way.

Not at the same level as Rooney admittedly, but personally I find I play better and with more energy when a bit wound up.

If you look at most professional team talks in sports like rugby and football, they tend to get the players pumped up rather than telling them to chill before going out onto the pitch.

Zidane, another player with anger management issues got sent off for kicking someone in the 1998 World Cup and still managed to have a pretty good tournament. Although admittedly 2006 didn't end so well.

But it's about focussed aggression and adrenaline, not wild uncontrollable stuff. If Rooney can bring himself under control and focus that emotion to use it, rather than letting it use him, he'd be a better player.

I see that UEFA are asking for patience and more time to supply the FA with full explanation for the length of ban handed down to Rooney so they can evaluate the likely validity of any appeal.

What gets me though is it implies UEFA haven't got a clue how they came to the decision they did as surely they knew, when they banned him, why they were banning him for 3 games - so why does it take 2 weeks plus to write them down on some paper?

3 match ban cut to 2 matches + 1 match suspended so it seems he will be able to play in the dead rubber game against Ukraine as Sweden and France play out a draw

Well that confirms he'll definitely go then. Let's hope we still have something to play for by the final game. Or not, I can't really decide.

Apparently he's a midfielder these days. Never imagined Fergie giving him the Alan Smith treatment.

Thing is, he's still playing well there but Utd will buy a new midfielder in January and he'll be back up top again.

Just a reaction to their total lack of a midfield. It's a sacrifce - no wonder poor Wayne gets miffed and goes round kicking people.

Same story with Jones as well. Hopefully Vidic's injury will mean Jones can go back to playing centre back.

Fergie has always moved Rooney around quite a bit. He had that year of playing left wing every other week a few years back and I felt then it was holding Rooney back a bit.

I think it's just Fergie trying to derail Englands chances!

Apparently the only reason Rooney's ban has been reduced is because they felt sorry for him, now he can play against Europes best this season.

What does he have to do for the suspended match to be brought in?

yellow card or will another red mean an extended ban next time?

A Uefa spokesman told BBC Sport the third game ban would kick in only if he is sent off for violent conduct in another European Championship match.

Just seen an interview with Dalglish on SSN saying he doesn't agree with the outcome. Now if it was Suarez murdering someone he'd still appeal against it. Dalglish = what a kant.

Leave him.

As if we'd miss him. Has he EVER done anything for England in a competitive match? We play as a much better "Team" without him

I agreed with Daglish. Violent conduct = 3 game ban. Not really sure why UEFA reduced it; Rooney is an idiot.

Agreed with point on Suarez; I'd like to see how Daglish reacts when it's one of his players who is out.

Much lower profile, but we handled Leigertwood's ban last season with dignity, especially after Cardiff got off scot free from the FAW. Think Mikele's only response was to apologize. If only bigger clubs and people had a more humble attitude.
