Pompey accept Spurs bid for Defoe

I have a feeling that this one, and Downing's probable move to Spurs, will be the catalyst for a few moves (such as above)

City have also offered midfielder Scott Parker £100,000 a week to quit West Ham and join them. (Mirror)

Middlesbrough are poised to test Celtic's resolve with a bid of around £5m for Aiden McGeady. (Daily Mail)

Hunt or McGeady - i know which one i'd rather have in my team and with both being the same price its a no brainer

(the answer isn't Hunt btw)

Both Irish, both have no end product but one of them isn't wanted by his club which would favour McGeady going there.

Surprised Levy has gone for this, he can't be best pleased.

The news of Tevez not being offered a deal at Utd is interesting, he can walk off tomorrow if someone offers him a contract. Though of course Kia Joorabchian is probably holding out for ridiculous money for his economic rights.

McGeady is Scottish

But i agree with you - plus McGeady can play on either wing and i reckon is more skillful than Hunt.

The deal, which is expected to be worth about £15m, would mean Defoe returning to the club he left under a year ago.

Harry Redknapp originally lured Defoe, 26, from White Hart Lane to Pompey for about £7.5m in 2008 when the Spurs manager was in charge at Fratton Park.

That's a fair bit of profit.

But there is a sell on clause that Spurs put in place which is around £4m - how exactly does that work when the club who sold him buy him back?

Like getting cash back deals when you buy a car or get a mortgage. You're getting ripped off on the actual price but the cashback brings it down to about the right level.

So really Spurs will only be paying Portsmouth £11m for Defoe?!?

Stoke look set to buy Etherington.

I guess their Chairman owning BET365 was a big attraction for him....
