The Knitting Circle
FiNeRaIn Please explain why EVERY team in the UK will be having a minutes silence on remembrance day and celtic are trying to push for a minutes applause?

prolly because it winds people like you right the fuck up:?:

don't let this krazy religious rivalry and booing nonsense mask the fact that scottish teams play horrible football and shouldn't be allowed to play in the champions league.

#Groans# So the champions league should only be for Premiership, Serie A and La Liga teams?

What rubbish.

Sorry to change the subject slightly but the knock on effect of having the same teams enter the Champions league year on year is that these clubs get richer and richer than their domestic rivals year on year, further strenghening their grip on their domestic leagues. This leaves it nearly impossible for other teams to compete unless they take massive financial gambles (a la Leeds).

The current set up of European Competition is unfair and gives a massive advantage to The top 16. The competition should not be seeded - this results in the same teams qualifying for the later stages every year. And when a 'lesser' club does manage to reach the last 16 by assembling a good team, their players are poached the following year by clubs that are more likely to reach a Champs League latter stages, and because they have more financial clout.

If Rangers or Celtic did manage to develop a team capable of winning the CL, how long would it be before someone plundered them for all their best players, by offering ridiculous amounts of cash?

Share the wealth UEFA or you'll be seeing the same CL finalists every year - Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid (BORING)

But that's what they want as they can sell those games for BILLIONS in the far east.

*prepares to speak to soon*

Another fantastic performance from Rangers tonight, losing at home to some Romanian minnows. Still, well done Dan Petrescu!

The rangers forum is almsot identical to readings tonight, two crap sides, neither who have any hope for the coming years in football or the modern game. Rangers and Reading are a lot a like.
Fair play to the romanians, their top player cost 400k or so.

I can't see Reading giving Celtic a dicking at the moment though.

3 own goals in Rangers' game tonight, that can't have happened very often.

Listening to the radio this morning the 'experts' were all in agreement that last nights result was due to Rangers lack of spending in the transfer market over the last few seasons.

Anyone got any info on how much the Romanian team cost to put together compared to Rangers or their respective wages? I am genuinely interested to know

I got a bit confused watching the SSN preview last night when Davie Provan said that the Romanians were the whipping boys in the group, I thought that was Rangers surely?

Actually I think they have quite a lot of youth and their most expensive player was 300k - it was a freak result though, 2 own goals and rangers miss a pen at 1-1. That happens. Scottish football is dying a death, victims of the money of the modern game.

If that were true then how come Romanian league football has progressed so much in the last few years with the same if not less money available?

One freak result doesn't mean they've progressed that much. I knew someone would bring out this line. How many teams in Uefa cup finals, how many qualify form the champs league group stages?etc

Rod elsewhere, missed penalty at 1-1 and two own goals. How often does that happen in a game, you're a bit thick mate.
