So?

Football is played on the pitch and their contracts are different. Far more complicated.

Yeah, it's totally fine that the likes of John Utaka gets paid thousands of £s a week whilst the likes of St John's Ambulance or Dave from the ticket office get butt oxf*rd instead of paid.

Play the ticket office staff. All can be signed as players on a free I suspect and will cost a tiny fraction of the actual players. Only problem lies in terminating player contracts without a massive fee or finding someone daft enough to take them.

The problem is, the contracts of players is one of very few assets of the club.

FB is inadequate, out dated, and lacks the surrounding land to sell for development investment. I guess future income has been spent.

Interesting if you read the minutes above where the administrator lists 10m to HMRC 30m to Gaydar 15m to BC and 4m to other creditors....oh and btw there is 8m in outstanding football debts.

SSN confirms that they have been fined a significant sum by PL for a number of irregularities (thought to be around £1m)

Good job I say.

I'm hoping they carry on winning and get relegated by fewer than 9 points. That would then be suitable punishment.

I still think that club hasn't come down to earth yet. Both the administrator and Grant have been bleating about the nine points deduction: can't they see that without that deduction they would have been allowed an unfair advantage over teams that did follow the league rules correctly? Such as using a player such as Tommy Smith that they had not paid for (Watford had to be paid by the league from confiscated TV money). And are Portsmouth now seriously going to consider being bought by the associates of this Lloyd bloke, who is up to his neck in depth himself?

Talking of Smith, I argued all along against those who said we should have allowed the wide boys who ran Watford to squeeze an inflated price out of us. Of the three clubs' negotiators, only ours came out of it with any credit--literally. Portsmouth didn't have the money to buy Smith, and we did: I wonder if Smith now wishes he'd come to us instead of them. As for the Watford crew, they nearly landed their club in administration too.

They have Aruna Dindane on loan from Lens and they now can't play him, as one more game and it will cost them £ 4 Million!

Didn't we have similar qualms (but not to the same value) about playing Goater and/or Salako?

Seems like a sensible (if not overdue) decision by Pompey.

They're only rumours. I don't think it was ever confirmed that we would have to pay extra for more games.

Not that it makes any difference to the conspiricists on here, the club said at the time that there were no such clauses on Goater or Salako

Respect to the players I guess, even if it's very little money to them.

And now given permission by the PL to sell players outside the window.
