It's all down to Pompey going into administration and not being able to submit company accounts to get a UEFA Club licence, which they need to compete in UEFA sanctioned competitions. Nothing to do with what division they will be playing in next year.

Pompey's situation is due to that but cup runners up no longer qualify for Europe. If the winner has already qualified then the place reverts to the league. So unless Pompey win the cup their appeal is moot.

From Despair To Where?AthleticoSpizznot really, just count the home-grown "English" playersFrom Despair To Where? Great, a final between a club who are morally and literally bankrupt and a club that would be bankrupt but for the intervention of a rich sugar daddy.
The perfect advert for the English game then.
If Pompey win the final (yeah, I know, fat chance), my biggest fear is that htey will pawn off the Cup to pay a creditor
Its just an average top versus bottom Prem finale.....just what media dreams are made of
Personally to me its a turn off
So a final between a bankrupt club and a club who have achieved success through a rich benefactor doesn't sum up the current malaise in English football then?
