Ideal I don't understand how come England don't play a proper left wing.
Even if they had picked some guy from the coca cola championship, having a left wing is better than not having one.
At least they could try and play one, ANYONE.
And I don't understand what the point is of having Emile Heskey on the pitch in a world cup.
The man scored _THREE_ goals last season, he has NOTHING, he is just a pile of poo stacked up real high.
Bring on Bent and Defoe, are they even in the squad?
Lampard was shit. Drop him and bring in Barry.

Probably the best England player on the pitch.

Ian Royal Carragher got teh job done. But I'd like to see someone with a bit of pace in the middle. Lampard & Gerrard pretty good together really. Heskey played well, bar his miss. meh. We'll need to do a lot better to get past the 2nd round. But far better than the last couple of matches.

Ideal And that's where your lack of understanding shines through, Ian Royal.
There's not only "the plus side" of having him on the pitch, there is also the "minus side", how much did he not hamper the team?
How badly does he not fail to control the ball? He has no pace, and offers nothing in terms of finishing.
Anyone else presented with that chance would have scored.
Endlessly frustrating player to watch.

This ^. What a bunch of utter spastics on this thread. Confirmed that Reading fans know jack shit about football . We created enough chances to win this game 3 times over and minus the mistake we would have won anyway. Lots of neat passing in midfield, defence looked pretty solid, the Americans created nothing second half other than when they hit the post. Even though we drew a lot to be pleased with tonight and the toughest opposition of the group stage out the way.
Oh and going back to the post commented, I thought Heskey had a very good game. Could have done better with his one on one but you have to get into the position to miss it. Plus he set up our goal. Are some people never satisfied?
Oh and ITV oxf*rd off.

Baines Heskey did a job for the first half, but once Rooney starts dropping deep, it means that we end up without a centre-forward in the box who can score, which makes it all somewhat pointless.
Lennon, Johnson and Gerrard all did well, I thought, and Cole was solid.
EDIT - Heskey was offside too often as well.
