John Madejski's Wallet 1-1 bore draw for me

spot on. happy on one hand as i want both to go through, but england were their usual unconvincing selves. gerrard was superb, lampard unheard of until the 62nd, and that was his lot. appalling goalkeeping for the equaliser, but we were very unconvincing anyway. next up - a must win. great.
tbm, milner was ill going into the game but started anyway.

1-1 is a fair result. Green's gaffe aside I think the U.S. deserved a point. Looking forward to tomorrow's match to see how Slovenia and Algeria look.

Ideal Well if they're shit, then what the hell is Heskey?

Probably the best England player on the pitch.

Carragher got teh job done. But I'd like to see someone with a bit of pace in the middle. Lampard & Gerrard pretty good together really. Heskey played well, bar his miss. meh. We'll need to do a lot better to get past the 2nd round. But far better than the last couple of matches.

ITV an absolute disgrace, get better broadcasting companies in Ethiopia and Uzbekistan.

England yeah ok. No great shakes but everyone knew that all along. Carragher and Terry can NOT play in the same team as the CB pairing, I've seen milk turn faster than Carragher, rinsed twice, Altidore should have scored that chance.

Thought the American 'spine' Onyewu, DeMerit, Bradley and Clark were absolutely outstanding. Heskey won his stuff but when presented with the opportunity to win the game...fluffed it. That's Heskey in a nutshell. A handful..but never ever going to win you a game.

Milner poor selection, had a mare cya, Wright Phillips was lively he'll probably start the next time. Not enough from Lennon or Lampard for me. Rooney got better as it went on and Gerrard was very good tonight.

Rob Green shouldn't be in the team in the first place and the mistake was horrific. David James should be the England goalkeeper and I am amazed at someone like Capello with his experience would select a rookie keeper for such a big game. Madness and something always liable to happen. Green is the 3rd best keeper in the squad and playing him is just a nonsense.

Ideal I don't understand how come England don't play a proper left wing.
Even if they had picked some guy from the coca cola championship, having a left wing is better than not having one.
At least they could try and play one, ANYONE.
And I don't understand what the point is of having Emile Heskey on the pitch in a world cup.
The man scored _THREE_ goals last season, he has NOTHING, he is just a pile of poo stacked up real high.

Bring on Bent and Defoe, are they even in the squad?

Lampard was shit. Drop him and bring in Barry.

And that's why no one thinks your opinion is worth anything. Heskey very good all round play and an assist.

^greed & shouldn't have been taken off. Lennon & Johnson were decent and Gerrard not bad, the rest rather average and the shocking Green. Too many basic errors all round.

Ideal And that's where your lack of understanding shines through, Ian Royal.
There's not only "the plus side" of having him on the pitch, there is also the "minus side", how much did he not hamper the team?
How badly does he not fail to control the ball? He has no pace, and offers nothing in terms of finishing.
Anyone else presented with that chance would have scored.
Endlessly frustrating player to watch.

Anyone from another team you mean......

Fair play to the US. Thought we played quite well, but we need to move up a few gears before we can even think about winning the cup.

It was OK
I quite enjoyed the ITV coverage
Heskey was good
Johnson and Cole looked good, so you can't completely write off our defence.
Rooney was just warming up nicely at the end and didn't go of injured.
A point's a point.

Ideal Emile Donkey subbed.. not a minute too soon.

You're such a retard.

This ^. What a bunch of utter spastics on this thread. Confirmed that Reading fans know jack shit about football  . We created enough chances to win this game 3 times over and minus the mistake we would have won anyway. Lots of neat passing in midfield, defence looked pretty solid, the Americans created nothing second half other than when they hit the post. Even though we drew a lot to be pleased with tonight and the toughest opposition of the group stage out the way.

Oh and going back to the post commented, I thought Heskey had a very good game. Could have done better with his one on one but you have to get into the position to miss it. Plus he set up our goal. Are some people never satisfied?

Oh and ITV oxf*rd off.

Heskey did a job for the first half, but once Rooney starts dropping deep, it means that we end up without a centre-forward in the box who can score, which makes it all somewhat pointless.

Lennon, Johnson and Gerrard all did well, I thought, and Cole was solid.

EDIT - Heskey was offside too often as well.

Pretty much agree with this post, Johnson and Gerrard our best players for me, marginally ahead of Heskey, who can finish - how many times have we seen him thunder-blast it into the top corner in those one-on-ones (for Leicester, Liverpool, Villa), but on this occasion he just wellied it at the keeper.

Spent most of the second half shouting at anyone who would listen that I have a better left-foot than Shaun Wright-Phillips; it just amazes me that a professional footballer can be so one-sided.

Rooney disappointed me, decent first and last ten minutes, but looked subdued and lost for the rest, Lampard fairly anonymous too, save for his one-twos with the centre-backs.

I'd bring Cole in for Milner next Friday but wouldn't change the keeper. It was a horrendous mistake, but Green was otherwise good, and made an important stop from Altidore. Drop Green and his confidence will be shattered completely.

Ideal, Obviously your understanding of the game is greater than Capello's
