Re: The Non - League thread

Royals and Racers Very disappointing postponement of the game at Holyport yesterday. The visitors Wallingford and Crowmarsh turned up with a kit that clashed with the home teams and couldn’t within the refs timescale produce an alternative kit and the ref had no alternative to call the game off.

Will Wallingford & Crowmarsh be punished by the league for that or does it just get put down to "one of those things that happens at that level"?

...according to the 'port's 'X' A/C, it's not the first time this has happened - though can't say I recall any previous occasion(s).
- I've always rather assumed if it's called off at Summerleaze it must be due to the weather - doesn't drain well and is very exposed on two sides. No idea about punishment and it does seem a tad unfortunate re colours : normally would have been dark Claret vs Red/White. Checking the website but it does appear as if W&C have switched to a sort of all red/orange shirt (as per Luton) for this season - which might explain it?

Went to Eastleigh on Saturday in an official capacity - decent setup down there, and be better when the stand behind the goal is finished. Dreadful game of football though, Wealdstone the better team second half and if it was not for the Eastleigh keeper it would of been a comfortable victory.

Excellent as always, could we have the other Southern League Premier Division included as well as it features Berkhamsted and a few clubs over east anglia way like Leiston and Needham?

It happened around 8 years ago when Windsor visited Ash Utd.

Windsor's secretary spoke in advance with Ash about colours, the 2 clubs agreed the slight clash (both had some green) would not be an issue.

Ref when he turned up didn't agree, so in the end Windsor had to play with black bibs on to mask the clash somewhat. (IIRC someone had to do a quick dash to the local JD Sports to purchase said bibs.)

Thanks ....duly noted ..I like to please my 'readers'

. and I'll try & remember to add that division back in again - I'd dropped it this season as the only vaguely 'local' side (Kings Langley) got relegated.... had also been quite an influx of decidedly N.Midlands clubs that I'm not likely to rush to ...based around Nottingham/Derby ?

I've still got a 'cluster' lower down around Northampton that I'd prefer to try & 'tick' first....

Thanks FoC, it's the Bracknell Town website that is showing a 19:45 ko at Poole

https://www.bracknelltownfc.com

However looking at Poole's website they say 3pm so would presume it's the bracknell site that's wrong (if you're going to go to the game suggest going for a normal 3pm but make sure you can stay into the evening just in case!)

Royals and Racers Ascot won 2-1. Not a bad game before a decent crowd.

Any standouts in the Ascot side? Shamefully haven't been following their summer dealings too much despite having my son play for them at a younger age group.

The no 10 stood out for me think it was Sobte- very quick.
News this morning that in the FA cup next round the local derby between Wokingham & Embrook v Binfield is being played on Friday 18th August KO 7.45pm - should be a decent crowd.

Binfield won 2-0 before a record crowd for W & E of 606

Windsor & Eton 0-0 Burghfield

Well, blimey, attendance 1022!

Very promising performance from W&E, we played calm constructive football for the most part, had so many chances, hit the post twice, their keeper made loads of saves, they hardly had a sniff. Unfortunately we couldn’t head the ball straight when in front of the goal and put 5 decent chances high and / or wide. 5-0 wouldn’t have flattered us.

It’ll come.

I saw 4 or 5 Windsor games last season and I reckon the number of completed passes today was more than those games combined.

Very happy with what I saw today.

Thanks FoC for adding the SL-C games. Great start to the season for Maidenhead, less so for Slough and Bracknell.

....he is indeed ... and I think I might have highlighted his astoninshing record from last season @ London Samurai somewhere above ?... bet Basingstoke are glad they've taken a punt on him. Don't think they expected an instant return but would be interesting to hear if any regular (normal :? ) followers there have a view of him yet.

I chatted to a 'stoke fan at a PSF down at Alton and they'd not heard much about him either, being tucked away down the CCL-1 at a fairly low profile club.
