Royals and Racers H-T Fleet 1 Alton 0
F-T 4-1 Fleet’s reward is the long trip to Wincanton in the next round.
Attendance 425

...decent turn out that - s'pose is vaguely local -
I ended up going nowhere, had quite a list too. Needed to do lots of dashing around late PM for 'domestics', then decided to have a 'quick recovery nap' but didn't bother setting an alarm. Woke up too late to get anywhere

...so quick round-up locally for Tue:

CCL-PN
-Defeat again for BC 1-3 at Ascot H vs Virginia Water
- Reading City overcame 'Sumas' 2-1 at Scours att. 220

The one I probably regret missing ... and it may well have been my first choice:
- Holyport edged out Harefield at Summerleaze in a 9 goal thriller.
- Wallingford went down 1-2 at Hithercroft to Ardley
CCL-PS
- Sandhurst held 1-1 at Bottom Meadow by Guildford
- Tadley's game at Camberley was called off - lighting issues at Krooner.

Burnham lost their FA Cup replay 0-2 at Corsham

In the Hellenic wins for Highworth 2-1 at Cirencester and RWBT 4-0 over Brimscomb.
In Div One Ab Utd bt Kiddy Reserves and the 'Freds' [Wantage] suffered a heavy defeat 4-1 just over at Clanfield - not helped by 2 red cards. :?

Northwood v Beaconsfield Town
Ware v Thame United
SL1-S
Didcot Town v Larkhall Athletic
Exmouth Town v Thatcham Town

IL1-SC
Badshot Lea 1-5 Farnham Town att 476 -promising start for Town for this level, at their nearest neighbours. Were four up by half-time.
Binfield 0-4 Horndean - poor result for ’Moles’ against a side transferred in from the Div One South East section for this season
- three down at half-time - below average turn out too – reportedly only 72.

Hanworth Villa 1-1 Raynes Park Vale
Harrow Borough 1-0 Ashford Town (Middx)
Hartley Wintney 2-1 Guernsey
Kingstonian 3-0 Uxbridge
Moneyfields 1-4 Metropolitan Police

Egham Town 2-2 British Airways
Harefield United 3-1 Wallingford & Crowmarsh
Hilltop 1-4 Virginia Water
Holyport 1-0 Edgware & Kingsbury –att just 45 - I had an appt early PM so range v.limited this PM. Wanted to try and get back for the Sky extravaganza at the ‘Brum Scum’ if feasible too.
- ‘port’ overcame stubborn and quite talented opponents who just dodged relegation last term.
- had enough up front to make the difference and worked hard without the ball to grab a win.
- Summerleaze is still a very basic open-sided venue, with an inordinately long approach drive round the Cricket Club to get up there.
Most of the off-field facilities are ‘containers’ but they are opening a new Tea Bar later this month so that’ll improve things.

Presumably Milton STILL re-furb-ing their clubhouse....
.as per last wk got quite a list - just need to stay awake! 8)

- be interested in views on parking for Hithercroft - club were posting recommendations to park in adjacent Business Park - I visit regularly and never had an issue in the complex itself. Have had to go right down the back and use the Rugby car park more recently tho? :?
Enjoy!

Might have to dig that out ..Ironic perhaps.... back when I first went to Milton, not realising how near it was, that in Football Club terms was almost literally 'in the middle of nowhere' - nothing around it all really, other than a Bowls Club next door and great views NE over the old Diddy Power Station.

NOW it seems to be surrounded on three sides by big new housing developments - must make drainage a bit of a challenge - even though it's on top of a gert big hill (not called the Heights for nowt.)

Surreal NL anecdote no 474  was up there watching a less than edifying 0-0 with someone back in their Hellenic days -
was early Autumn, a very warm balmy evening and a Hot Air Balloon came ever nearer...eventually landed in the field beyond the Bowls club.
Assume it wasn't the planned destination - nearly everyone (approx 50 odd spectators) had noticed it coming down from miles away and had wandered away from the action into the fields to watch the descent and assist if needs be. :D

Milton 0 Wallingford 2
Wallingford good value for the win. Floodlights went out 5 mins into the 2nd half but they managed to get them back on after around a 15 min delay.
108 at the game.

Gloucester City 3 Plymouth Parkway 2 in front of 812 unsegregated fans (around 30 from Plymouth who travel to the game on the team coach.....)

Gloucester were well in control and 3-0 up before they lost their way and had to endure a nervy end to the game. An older guy in front of me won the half time draw and was over the moon with his £47 winnings.

Another point of interest was the Plymouth Parkway keeper (who I thought was their coach during the warm ups) - he was none other than Luke McCormick who spent 4 years in jail earlier in his career for killing 2 kids in car crash.

Quite enjoyed the evening and I'll go again when their matches don't clash with ours.....

- took a short trundle down to Tadley midweek for a CCL-PS fixture. Saw the 'Fizzers' lose 2-3 - quite an entertaining tussle.
- Premier South is a difficult a section to predict this season expect Redhill, Knaphill and Abbey Rgrs to feature, yet both of these (Tadley / Sandhurst) may flourish.
- 'Bulls' (Jersey) very probably favourites and they finished strongly at the very end of last term, to grab runners-up then fail in the POs - but they tended to fritter away too many points 'on the road' - particularly midweek - when they may have selection/availability issues.
- Alton & Fleet locally, look to have started well - as indeed do Guildford City but they led early on last season and ended up very close to relegation.
- Doubt there's another Farnham lurking here for 24-25 :?

Is that a big attendance for whatever step they are in?

...difficult to say for certain - is up on Rochester's published average by c. 50% but crowd figures are rarely comprehensive/reliable down at this level. [STEP06]
They did get higher attendances than this last term.
A better comparison for SE Dons/FHP is that their hosts today made the POs in 23-24 - so that's a good sign?

It is, so did the team they lost too last week (they came 3rd I think and dons were 1-0 up till the last bit of the game)

Tbf some of the attendances they got for Sunday league cup finals were in the 1000s.... Kent Sunday cup final was over 2000, and the London cup they played a few months ago against baiteze was 3006 officially at afc Wimbledon stadium

Which for a Sunday league game (albeit YouTube'd up) is pretty mental/impressive

I wonder if hashtag will ever become into the top echelon of non league, suppose they're the most famous and best example of a YouTube social media team going from Sunday to Saturdays and being good

Although they seem to have hit a ceiling with where they are now, suppose it's all about £££ in those steps though

Ex reading fc player Greg Halford plays there
