Is it time for the FA/ leagues to end these farcical situations.
1 yesterday Oxford City had their longest away trip to play South Shields FC- a 534 mile round trip- and the game was called off by the ref 1 hour before the start.
2 Bracknell town were away to Tavistock FC on Tuesday evening and with road closures on the M 5 and M 4 got back at 4am !!!
3 Last Saturday Thatcham played away at Mousehole FC and had to leave at 6am and probably got back at midnight.

Really can’t be helped. You’ll always get anomalies like this as you don’t get the right mixture of clubs relegated out of tier 5/6 etc. The vagaries of weather in this country will always mean you’ll get late postponements too.

Sadly it’s just tough, the leagues though should really help wherever possible by not scheduling long distance treks on midweeks and being as flexible as possible in fixture rearrangements and not increasing loads with extra games in stupid league cup competitions. Or perhaps teams from Northumberland/Cumbria and Cornwall should just be banned from all but very local (to them) leagues!

Enjoyable first visit to Arbour Park last night with I'm Alan Partridge for Slough 2-2 Torquay, attendance of around 800. Draw a fair result despite the Slough 96th minute equalizer.

Eastleigh are currently offering an early bird (until 31st Jan) season ticket for next season £99 for adults, £75 for concessions. They’ll almost certainly be in the NL next season. That works out less than £5 per game. Not sure you’ll get better value for that level or even a couple of levels lower.

£5? wow, that’s less than the likes of Reading City much further down the pyramid.

Sounds like a loss-leader that they’re trying to syphon back some of the ‘sure to dwindle’ Southampton Premier support and build-up a decent core of supporters and an atmosphere…going forward

....and I thought we were led to believe Basingstoke were the 'bad boys' :?

Aldershot Town have been fined in excess of £4000 for sectarian chants at their ground with further action to come for pyrotechnics and throwing of objects. Banning orders have been issued to people identified and the police are now involved too

I went to Fairford v Roman Glass St George.

Not much to report on the game, as it was abandoned after about 25 minutes for a really bad head injury. A clash of heads going for a header. The guy didn't move until stretchered off to an ambulance at about 4:15.

In the last few minutes the club has announced he's now conscious and communicating, but it did look a really bad one.

We hear of similar virtually every week, some with even worse endings.
Thank fcuk that even at grass roots level there are skilled/trained/competent people around to deal with such medical events.

.. good to know the player appears to be OK.

Not been to Fairford for years - apparently now gets rave reviews for its catering..... is just beyond my range for MW games and would not go that far for a revisit of a w/e unless for a big Cup Tie or a 'double.'

I also visited to RG St G's original ground 10-15 yrs ago - really buried away deep in a Brizzle Estate hidden down a narrow alley between two semi-detached houses.
They moved into the County FA at Oaklands just off the M5, after the demise / expulsion of Almondsbury Town.

....asforme ... took advantage of the earlier KO at Scours and saw Woodley's surprise 4-0 romp past PFC Victoria in CCL-1 ... all the goals in the 2nd half.

Proper review tmrw......

I heard the linesman say he did a game recently and a guy got a double break of his leg. It was deemed non-emergency and he had to wait two hours.

One club official did say that luckily the physio at Fairford is really good, although at one stage they did ask someone to get the defibrilator, just in case.

The food is good. It appears that it operates as a diner at other times, so maybe the standards are a little higher than usual.

and just as a little side-dish…..

Roman Glass St George have been thrown out of the FA Vase for fielding an ineligible player, (pending appeal…if they bother) Andover New Street, the team that they knocked-out in the last round (creating a bit of RGSG club history…..for a few moments at least) will be reinstated (to face AFC Stoneham) in the next round.

Oh and, Andy Gurney managed them for a spell

Oxford City 1-0 Forest Green Rovers – ‘City’ shock high-flying FGR – doubt the Trophy was priority for Rovers though
Southend United 0-1 Sittingbourne – STEP04 side win at STEP01 – again doubt the hosts were at full-strength but the ‘Brickies’ are going very well in Isthmian One South East (same level as Binfield/Farnham/Thatcham etc ) – only one league defeat and 100% home record

Spennymoor Town 2-2 Boston United - 3-1 pens

...not much action this Midweek - must be a few league/minor cup ties about
- the 3 remaining B&B Senior Cup Q-Fs are all next week.
Where league games have been scheduled for our 'featured' sides:

(Tuesday evening)

NAT-N
Brackley v Needham Market
Oxford C v Marine
NAT-S
Farnborough v Chesham
Hampton & R v Dorking W

SLP-C
Banbury v Kettering
SLP-S
Hungerford play Chertsey at Bulpit
Basingstoke travel to leaders Merthyr
SL1-C
Hertford v Kidlington
Thame v Stotfold
SL1-S
- some awful news regarding the postponement of Thatcham's scheduled league fixture down at at Bashley
(posted on NLM this PM) :( :-
Bashley v Thatcham Town has been postponed due to the serious injuries sustained by Bashley's Jordan Chiedozie while travelling home from Saturday's match at Tavistock when he was struck by a vehicle as he was dealing with a flat tyre.

IL1-SC Binfield should be hosting HandY ..... if their pitch has finally dried out
- Baggy Lea and Westfield are away at Horndean and Leatherhead respectively.

CCL-PN Wallingford host Holyport P-P still waterlogged
CCL-PS Sandhurst v Spelthorne
CCL-1 Windsor & E v Hillingdon Boro

WESS-1 Ash v Verwood

Boreham Wood grabbed top spot in NAT-S last night (Mon) thanks to a 3-4 win at Hemel ...
...erstwhile (brief) Royal-loanee Kwesi Appiah on the score sheet for the visitors, who won on 87'
Having been 1-3 ahead they were pegged level @ 3-3, on 82'.

Dorking currently 1-1 at H&R, so with a point will regain 1st place but have played 2 games more.
