Saaaaaaaammmmmm Not ITK bashing as such, but has FL ever got anything right? Gone on and on about Marriapa, Sig and Rhodes, none of which have happened

To be fair to him, quite a bit. Mostly on the TSI debacle, but he called Lovenkrance (sp?) to Brum which came in today, and he was backed up by Gazza, Loyal Royal with some of the Mariappa stuff, and Iceland Stokie also has a good reputation on anything Iceland (buy one get one free's etc etc) backed FL on our interest in money bags Sigurdsson.

I don't get all the knifing on here. It's become a real bitchfest these days.

I'm with you Dare to Dr£am, in the last month or so the UR&G seems to have degenerated into a bloodletting frenzy. This is a forum where posters truthfully (or untruthfully!!) say what they have heard is going on, and pass on snippets that they think people will be interested in knowing. At some point (probably around The Sig thread), it seems to have become apparent that too many of these snippets are being treated as fact. If x says player A is in talks then player A is definitely joining the club and x is meeted with a wail of anguish and angst if this turns out not to happen. CALM DOWN PEOPLE, things happen. We all know newspapers adjust stories to suit themselves, we also know that agents have a habit of talking up a player's transfer possibilities, then we have to consider the club/player may not like what they see when they meet, and even if they do the offer may not be acceptable to all parties. I think there are genuine people on this forum who try to let us know what they have heard, as well as a few WUMs, and I look forward to hearing the gossip and speculation, but remember Tommy Smith. Any speculation/rumour should not be treated too seriously until the cheesy pen holding picture with Mr Mad appears, so CALM DOWN!

Agree with Dare to Dream on this... at the end of the day, we all get told bits, and put them on here to try and keep in the know. There are so many rumours whizzing around at the moment, not just with Reading... enjoy the ride

I've got no problem with people sharing what they hear. It's just a shame that wind-up merchants like BigMike and Fridays_Legacy spoil it for the genuine posters like gazzer loyal royal.

The bottom line is unless anyone on here is Nicky Hammond or Brian himself, they are not that ITK. People can get little bits of info from various sources, but there are very few people who will know the full story, and anything that is really confidential, won't appear on here without someone getting sacked first.

For example, Daniel Sturridge's agent sits on the floor below me, so I can get snippets of insight to tell you that he's been trying to secure a move to Spurs but now AVB has gone in there he's gone colder on the idea. But ultimately I'm not Daniel Levy, so I can't actually tell you anything that is insight into what will make or break the deal for spurs.

All people are doing is adding a little bit of 'behind the scenes' context to rumours that are essentially public in any case. No one has the complete inside track. So as long as one keeps that perspective in mind not sure what the big fuss is about. Unless it's just rather petty jealously that someone has something more interesting to say...

Honestly the crap some people will believe! If he moves this summer, which I think is about as likely as Reading being in the Europa League next year, it will only be to a Premier League club.

Yer i suppose i should believe you rather than the bookies who obviously have no idea what is going on but are willing to bet money on him going to brighton?!

there hasn't been much talk about Rhodes lately (Since us) the last couple of days rumours have surfaced about brighton making a bid for JR. brighton fans put money on rhodes to go to brighton. As a result of this, the odds shorten on him moving to brighton.

The bookies know nothing that we don't know on transfers. Odds just shorten when money is put on a team in regards to transfers

+1

Rhodes will either stay at Huddersfield or be in the PL come 1st Sept. I know a good deal about Brighton and they simply don't have that much resource at the moment. They might have bid but it won't be enough to get him.

Might be very likely if our 1st season back in the Prem was anything to go by :P haha no you're right can't see it happening. If it does will be very late on in the window depending on our first few performances this season think we would have to be doing really badly on the goalscoring front early on for it to happen.

The talk in Huddersfield is the chairman wont budge for less than 6.5m and now wants Rhodes to stay with a new improved contract. This is never going to happen unless, it's it's highly unlikely, Rhodes puts in a transfer request.

£6.5m?! We signed Lita for £1m and they are basically the same player (League One top scorer, young, etc). Even Shane Long went for less than that? madness.

They obviously want to keep their player and believe he would be happy to stay.

Fair play to Huds. Wish JM had the guts to do that in the past.

+ 1 good on them. Ironically makes me want him in the team more. He seems to have exactly the right attitude.

This is what I never get when people harp on about price.

He's worth what the club say he's worth. He's worth that to them - they want either him, or X million.

He might not be worth that to us, or anyone else. But Huds want to keep their man and I wish we'd have had the same resolve in the past.

Completely agreed.

The thing that changes this situation is if the player wants to leave and the bids aren't meeting the desired amount then often the player becomes:

X million - Y

...admire the stance Huddersfield are taking given that they will only know too well that if Rhodes doesn't deliver in the Championship ..his asset value to club will greatly decrease...equally if he does what he did in League 1, it goes in part to justifying today's valuation the club have of him...
