Royal Rother But better than them.

If they managed to win two in a row then on a par, come back next year.

Righto. So you are suggesting that Nottingham Forest from the 70s are, at the moment, a better team than this Barcelona.

Priceless.

Nope.
You just cannot remember how great a team they were.
Also, come back when Barcelona perform like this in a final.

Barca - better team on the night. But to support a team in the 2nd tier of English football and mock Utd, is a joke really. You just look like a pathetic weasle.

You could not be more wrong.

Supporting a team in the "2nd tier" is exactly what gives us the right to mock Utd. We are not brainwashed by the sky hype like the glory seeking big four fanboys, we can call it as we see it - and as I see it, United were beaten up and humiliated in their own national stadium with the whole footballing world watching.

Winning the league is now a hollow achievement. They will be remembered as losers and rightly so.

United - I'm sorry to say - were totally humiliated by Barcelona last night; that was simply a masterclass in how to play the game (tho Rooney's finish - for Man Utds only shot on target - was quality)

Frankly, had it been anyone OTHER than United it may well have been 6 or 7 to Barcelona; absolutely NO disgrace in losing to the far superior team in the manner that they did last night.

Vidic, Rio, Van Der Sar all had excellent games, whilst Hernandez was as much a spectator as we were. Might have been better to start with Park rather than Hernandez and try to flood the midfield, but hey ho - even that is unlikely to have changed the result.

As for anyone suggesting that the Forest team of the late 70's early 80's were better than Barcelona are now - that HAS to be a wind up, so its not even worth a

I would go with Barcelona as the best team I've ever seen obviously you can't judge it on last night but you can only beat what's put in front of you.

Better to judge them on that 5-0 over Real and the home and away Champions League wins over them. They are a top quality side with one absolute super star who looks like he could score every time he picks up the ball if he really wanted to.

LOL @ the suggestion that Notts Forest (although excellent) can hold a candle to them

Classy of the Man Utd fans to stay an applaud the worthy winners though.

Victor Meldrew
Big Foot
Victor Meldrew Perhaps he is feeling the pressure as the manager of a club that hasn't done very well in this competition over the years.

They've won it as many times as the media darlings Barca though.

Until Saturday?

What a joy watching a team passing another one to death.
Once again last night highlighted the insular view of football in England and the raising of players to superstar status when they are merely good in our football.
Young Hernandez was going to make all of the difference according to our Press-yes,offside 5 times and hardly touched the ball.
Yes,as a striker he has to have a supply line but the much over-rated Carrick looked like a 3rd division player.
The two centre-backs look commanding in our football but last night tried hard but haven't a clue when players run at them ,something that doesn't happen much in our league games other than the regular humiliation of Vidic by Torres.
What I didn't understand was why Man Utd's best player this season,Nani, didn't start.
I saw that as a statement of fear with Park and Valencia performing extra defensive roles.
It could be argued that Fergie started with two up as a statement of intent but really he only played one up with Rooney as an extra midfielder.
Well done Barcelona, one of the best sides ever IMHO-forget whether they are THE best ever, they are definitely the best around now and I doubt that there is a single Man Utd player that they would want in their side, such is the gulf in class.

Forest might not have been a team greater than the current barcelona team, but id suggest that Forest winning the European Cup 2 years in a row is the greater achievement

It was on at 3am here and I slept through the first half.

Man Utd, it seemed, slept through the second half.

Totally outplayed by a far, far better team.

I bet Fergie had a go at the ref. That's his usual M.O. after any defeat.

It's not really any surprise the best team in Europe won when they were playing one of the weaker Utd sides of the last 10 years. Lets face it, the only reason Utd won the league was because Citeh still haven't worked out how to build a real team, Liverpool were a shambles and Arsenal and Chelsea were both weak too.

As everyone says, Barca were just far, far too good for a limited United side last night. If you consider all aspects of football evolution over the years - fitness, conditioning, equipment, etc - you have to say that this team are the best that ever existed.

Mentioning games they lost (eg. Hercules) as a counter-argument is ridiculous. Even the very best of teams will lose on certain days, such is the nature of sport.

And tbf to Ferguson, when he says "nobody's given us a hiding like that" I don't think he's suggesting that they haven't been on the wrong end of heavy scorelines before - it's more of an acknowledge that the overall manner of Barca's performance was just so superior.
