So Cardiff win the dream 100 million pound ticket. I remember reading the same headlines when we went up. I would love to know where they get that figure from? And where the money goes. One things for sure it don't go on players.

It's about £140m next season. PL revenue is about £80m (£60m from TV deals) and parachute payments will then be worth £60m (on the basis that they're predicted to also go up...)

The chairman. "i hope I don't have to spend much".

Back to championship you go after one season.

Enjoy it while you can!!

Unsure how they'll cope to be honest... Like Reading/QPR they've built it on having a core of proven Championship players (Tommy Smith, Connolly, Helgusson, Hudson, Marshall etc) with a few inbetweeners like Whittingham, Campbell and Turner.

Bellamy was a driving force but at 34 next season is he going to be an effective force in the Premier League?

I'd argue they need just as big an overhaul as Reading needed and have a less talented squad than either West Ham or Southampton did. It'll be very interesting to see just how much they do spend.

The thing is that is exactly where it goes - maybe not on transfer fees but into the pockets. The "Dream Ticket" is based on a 4 year figure I believe to allow for relegation and parachute payments.

A couple of Pog like marquee signings on £50k a week would cost £20m over 4 years.
Say 5 solid Prem players on £25k a week would cost @26m over 4 years.
Half way there with a squad of 7 players.
Not hard to see where the money disappears.

Even though I can't stand the Welsh, especially Cardiff, credit where it's due, fair play they have been the best team this season by a mile. Even that chappy Tommy Smith (remember him) has been a decent player this year.

What's wrong with 'the Welsh'? That Alex Jones is lovely.

Agree Cardiff is shite though. But especially the coastal towns are very good.

Brains SA beer, the Battle of Rorke's Drift, leek & potato stews, and loads of castles. Wales has a lot going for it.

So just two welsh teams in the top 4 divisions now and they're both in the PL

First time at the top level for them since about 1962, good luck to them next year rather they stay up than the eternal dross like Fulham and Wigan (still fingers crossed for this year though).

Hoping Hull go with them and Brighton win the POs so we don't have to go to their craphole of a ground next year.

If you ever went to Ninian Park (especially), Cardiff's anti-English stance was appalling. Welsh National Anthem before KO, anti-English songs throughout the entire 90 mins. My thoughts are "If you don't like the English, then fook off to the League of Wales".

However, they won't, because financially it wouldn't be good for them. So, they 'like' the English when it suits them. Much like the Irish.

This haha. Flew a St. George's cross during the 6 nations and people thought I was in the English Defence League.
