Groningen V Ajax game abandoned after fires in the stands. Never a good idea to set fire to all the toilet paper being thrown onto the pitch. A little worrying how quickly the seats caught fire to be honest.

Final round of games in Holland kick of in an hour, if PSV get anything away to Vitesse they will be champions, they lose and Ajax win at home to Heracles and Ajax are champions on goal difference.

After final day drama last year this was the final standings, don't think the league will ever go down to the wire as much as that did then

PSV 75 (+50)
Ajax 75 (+49)
AZ 72 (+52)

Interesting game tonight in Spain between Real Madrid & Racing Santander. Santander win and they move into a Champions league spot, Madrid win and they go 11 points clear with 7 left to play.

Fiorentina moved 7 points clear of AC Milan yesterday in 4th place with Milan playing Reggina today. The bottom of the table still see's the bottom 7 clubs seperated by only 5 points!

Greek league also get's setled this evening with Olympiacos top by 2 points, AEK in 2nd have a better goal difference so Olympiacos have to just match or better AEK's result to be champions

Vitesse 0-1 PSV
Ajax 5-1 Heracles

So that'll be PSV Eredivisie champions for the fourth season running.

In France, PSG in 18th, 3 points adrift of safety with four games remaining.

In Spain, Valencia are 2 points clear of the drop with six to go (one of them a match in hand away to Bilbao this evening):

16) Valencia 39 pts
17) Real Zaragoza 37 pts
18) Recreativo de Huelva 37 pts

In addition to the match in hand, Valencia do at least have the head-to-head and mini-league tiebreakers working for them so far (a win and a draw v. Huelva and a draw away to Zaragoza, with the rematch set for the Mestalla on the second to last weekend). Come what may, they're UEFA Cup-bound after winning the Copa del Rey during the week.

Pretty amusing in any case to see elements of the G-14 [sic] in trouble at this late stage.

Surprised Valencia doing so badly having been a fine side in recent years

They are onto their 3rd manager this season with Koeman getting no respect from any of the players. Villa has publicly stated he doesn't want to be there any more and Joaquin has also said to the press that Koeman is tacticly clueless and he doesn't want to play for him.

Players and fans are still seem upset that Quique Flores left, results were not good but he left mainly due to a falling out with the board.

Oh and add to that the £180M debt they have and things are not looking good at the Mestalla. Sounds like it will be a British owned club soon though which will be interesting.

Inter looked to have wrapped up the Serie A title race after 1-0 win at Torino. Roma can only draw with bottom of the table Livorno. Totti also out for the season with Knee Injury. That said, this is Inter we are talking about. They will probably find some way to cock it up.

MiLOLan still 4 points adrift of 4th.

At the bottom, a whole host of teams are in relegation trouble:

Catania 35
Cagliari 35
Torino 34
Parma 31
--------------
Livorno 30
Empoli 30
Reggina 30

Wisla Krakow were crowned champions of Poland after Lech Poznan's 2-1 win over Groclin. Wisla celebrated the title with a 2-1 win of their own against city rivals Cracovia.

That I have been avoiding this thread is probably proof enough.

Interesting statistic time ...

1.FC Nürnberg last won the league in 1968. They were relegated the following season.

In 2007, 1.FC Nürnberg won the Cup for the first time since 1962. They are now 17th in a league of 18.

Facing the drop, in other words. Crunch games approaching. Nürnberg have won 2 of their last 3 and face Bielefeld (currently in 15th and 3 points ahead of my local heroes) this weekend. A 6-pointer, if ever there was one.

Ah right very good then there you are Starferz.

Things looking a bit better all of a sudden for your boys indeed, at least as compared to a few weeks back:

14) Cottbus 29/-18
15) Bielefeld 28/-25
-------------------------------
16) Rostock 27/-16
17) Nürnberg 26 pts/-15
18) Duisburg 25 pts/-15

Still five games to go and a narrow goal-difference edge working for them. Gotta do Bielefeld this weekend as you say, plus Duisburg at home two weeks after. A point away to Dortmund in between would help, especially with Hertha away and then Schalke at home to close it out.

I like their chances.

Olympiakos won the Greek league by 2 points, having been awarded a 3-0 win for their match against Apollon Kalamarias earlier in the season. Kalamarias won the match on the day 1-0, but due to the illegal appearance of Roman Wallner the points were given to Olympiakos. Expect a summer of appeals.

Spain
A win for Real Madrid tonight at home to Bilbao along with a loss for Villarreal away at Betis would see Madrid crowned champions.

Levante lose away at Recreativo and they are gone

Turkey
Fenerbahce, Galatasaray & Sivasspor are all on 70 points. Fenerbahce V Galatasaray tonight and with them level on points, only 1 goal seperating their goal difference and 2 to play after tonight you have to think that the winner takes the title.

France
Bordeaux blew the chance to go 2 points off the lead as Lyon only managed a draw at home to Caen.

Race for the last Champions League spot is looking very close between 6 teams

Galatasaray 1-0 Fenerbahce

Depending on Roma's result, Inter could win the league next week if they win the Milan derby. A win for Inter could also see Milan slip closer to not even finishing in a UEFA Cup qualifying spot

Valencia 3-0 Osasuna in their relegation six-pointer (sounds bizarre, considering the principals) in Spain, so Valencia now 4 points clear of the bottom three and 2 in front of Osasuna and Recreativo de Huelva.

Zaragoza now sit 18th after drawing away to EspanYol as Recreativo beat lost-cause Levante at home. Cut line in the Primera climbing up up up and now stands at 39 points with four games left to play; even Deportivo, now seventh on 49 and three points back of a UEFA Cup spot, have yet to join the current top six in securing another season in the first division. It'll be interesting to see how many points the last ones out end up with.

44 points good for 12th these days (Getafe and Betis, followed by Valencia and Valladolid on 42, then Osasuna and Recreativo on 40), with Zaragoza next and in the red on 38.

Next week, Sivasspor at home to Galatasaray.

Sivasspor won a tricky away fixture on Saturday and two wins from here will give them the title in their first season in the top flight of Turkish football.

Portugal:

Porto hammer 2nd-placed Guimaraes 5-0 away, Benfica keep the heat on Vitoria winning 2-0 at home to Belem while Sporting are currently playing Maritimo; a win takes them into 2nd.

Leixoes beat Uniao Leiria 3-1 in Leiria to relegate their opponents and increase their own chances of avoiding the drop.

Nice tussle in Romania. Steaua go back top after an away win over Craiova; CFR Cluj held to a goalless draw by lowly Mioveni.

1. Steaua 32 72 (GD +28)
2. CFR 32 70 (GD +28)

Two games to go. Steaua have a nasty Bucharest derby v. Dinamo; CFR have only lowly opposition including bottom-of-the-table city rivals Universitea Cluj.
