papereyes Against Australia (and Serbia), he was tucked right back - pretty much patrolling between centre backs and level with the (advanced) wing backs. My hunch is that Ozil got more tightly marked in later games, giving Schweinsteiger, not a bad player, room to move forwards.
Against Spain, all three German centre mids had to tuck back. I'd also imagine that the absence of Mueller meant they didn't have the easy option out.
