As can be seen from my 10 years of being on here I am not a naturally negative person when it comes to sport - e.g. when all around have been slitting their wrists I have almost always found reason to stay supportive of the England cricket team, through bad patches, and have indeed remained an RTG throughout most of the bad patches Reading FC have experienced....

Maybe after 40+ years of consistent disappointment I find it hard to be objective about the England football team. It doesn't feel like that to me - (I'm not doing it deliberately just to wind people up!) - I genuinely find watching England a pretty tedious experience. When we play teams like Moldova, Mexico, Japan, Montenegro, Switzerland for e.g. I genuinely come away being more impressed by their skills and passing than ours. I suppose they are generally / often not as effective over 90 minutes but there is something to admire about how they play the game that I just don't see with England.

Just an old cynic I suppose. I want to get right behind this team all the way but any optimism and excitement is always countered by the fact that I just don't enjoy watching England play football, because we're pretty crap at it (in the style sense).

The fact that I love Roy Hodgson's style and intellect and that he is sticking it up the Readknapp loving media's arses is a great place to start I suppose - maybe I should forget how we play the game and just stick with enjoying Hodgson's (relative) triumph.
