Mmmm...SSC takes over at Bristol City in April and TV stops posting on HNA...until the day SSC quits BCFC and TV miraculously re-appears the same day.

cmonurz

Wow. Genuinely shocked by this. Yes, the City job gave him a reputation, but he was so solid, calm, composed as a Reading boss, I thought he'd moved on from that and expected him to do as good a job at City. Sounds like his head just isn't in it.

Best of luck to him, as a Reading legend, in whatever he does in the future, football management is worse off without him.

Agreed.

Tbh, I loved him so much as our manager that I was dreading having to see him back at the Mad Stad with a new team. So this has worked out well for me  Maybe he realised too late that he was better off being a pundit, without any of the stress etc, and it probably pays him well enough not to have to worry too much about money.

Thats a Big +1 from me!!

8th in the Premiership. You lose.

Relegated from the Premiership and in deeper financial problems supposedly than when he took over over half a decade previously, we lose.

Royalee Pardew did all the work and it took Coppell 3 years to finish it

You normally present your case well, even if I don't happen to agree with it. But this is just LOL funny. Pardew did a great job, but "all the work"? Three years is an age in football - if Coppell was as bad as you claim, we should have gone down, not up, in that time. Anyway, it's certainly more than enough time in sporting terms to earn most of the managerial credit for the result.

Indeed and perhaps Royalee can let us all know of any other Reading manager who has been awarded Manager of the Year not once but twice by his contemporaries all of whom know far more about football than Royalee ever will.

Big deal, if he was such a good manager why did he never manage to consistently have a club in the top flight and motivate top players and end up at poxy Bristol City? Oh yeah, because he's a bottle job.

It is a big deal since no other Reading manager has won the award once in 139 years. For all the managers across the Leagues to single out our manager twice as the best of all of them in a particular season deserves great kudos. God knows what noise you would have made if Rodgers had come remotely close to winning it just the once.

Dirk Gently The writing was on the wall when David James was brought in without SC's prior knowledge or agreement.

is this true? and if yes, how does one know?

Its not true. When SC appeared on HTV (West) with James he said that Steve Lansdown (who was abroad on holiday) phoned and suggested they might try for him but it was SC who actually contacted James in the first instance. James confirmed that it was SC who contacted him and said that as he had been having a few drinks he would not have answered the phone normally but when he heard Coppells voice on the answerphone he picked it up. City supporters tell me that Lansdown is known to interfere in team affairs.

It was reported in the paper that James is on a record wage (for City) and I think that this has led to unrest in the squad. The squad has also been decimated by injuries and attempts to sign new players have come to nothing. There was also a lot of crowd trouble when City lost to Millwall last Sat and (unusually) City supporters attacked a Millwall coach and smashed it up. I think that Sir Steve suddenly realised that he had a dysfunctional squad, not much money to buy replacements, an interfering chairman and a set of neanderthals for supporters.

Managers don't base decisions on whether a club has hooligans for supporters or not, how ridiculous. There are hundreds of arrests and man united, liverpool, man city, chelsea, etc games - do any of those managers give a toss?

You also left out the fact that Millwall fans by all reports more than gave as good as they got. Reports of darts and bottles being thrown from the away end into the home section you've left out.

That's down to the DoF and the Chairman shirley? They're the ones who told him how much he had to spend, agreed players wages etc!
