South Coast Royal
Franchise FC Anyone else watching Everton v Arsenal ?

If so, can one of you explain why, when both the defender and the attacker have their feet on the white line at the edge of the penalty area, the red line defining the offside is drawn way inside the area ?

In the same game how on earth didn't Godfrey get sent off for what was clearly a stamp on the Arsenal player's face with no attempt to avoid him?
At best IMHO it was dangerous play and a yellow?

According to Dermot Gallagher the VAR only looks at reds, so the fact that it should have been at least a yellow gets ignored by VAR

Thought Godfrey should've already have been on a yellow by that point anyway for when he took Saka out late on the touchline.

Except that he didn't get booked for the 'stamp' anyway

I think that if he'd already been booked he would have been a lot more careful about where he deliberately put his foot down.

It was almost funny that he did the no look stamp

Almost

and the fake throwing his arms up like it was an accident but then forgetting to check that the player was ok which you'd do if it was an accident.

If that Arsenal penalty and West Ham red card is deemed as a “foul”, then the game is gone for me

There must be more to it than just the ref’s decision as it’s clear he got the ball and whilst the tackle could have been executed better, I really struggle to see how it translates as a foul

Btw Arsenal used to be a fairly likeable club but Arteta has turned them into a real dislikeable lot. Cheating, throwing themselves to the floor, shadow of their former selves

Var letting Kane off the hook. If Winks or Milner make that challenge that's a red. Liverpool denied a clear pen as well.

The possible red card COULD have been SLIGHTLY debatable, but the penalty was so clear cut it’s farcical it wasn’t given.

It’s getting really boring again. To not give Kane’s a red and then give Robertson’s is ridiculous

Additionally, the two handed shove from Emerson on Jota. Salah’s handball for Liverpool’s second. Ederson wiping out Fraser in the Newcastle game

It’s an utter shambles. Fix it or bin it. Simple

Of those the only one they definitely got right was Robertson’s red. Irrespective of the Kane incident it was clearly a leg-breaker and a deserved red.

Kane : should be red
Jota penalty : penalty all day long
Jota goal: not convinced by this one as the laws stand
Newcastle penalty : what the hell are both the referee in real time, and VAR review doing. That’s a stonewaller

What was wrong with Jota’s goal? Or are you talking about Robertson’s?

Have never liked and never will like VAR. It’s unforgivable just how inconsistent it is. But then that’s half the problem, things like fouls are based on subjectivity

Because you don’t have to have the ball to be fouled

Another completely irrelevant element.
A foul is a foul whether the player has the ball or not, and whether he can get it or not

That may not be the way that referees referee, but is certainly the way the laws of the game are written

New tactic, batter any opposing player who doesn't have the ball

I think poor little Fraser has a problem-if the wind blows at over 5 mph or a player runs nearby creating a bit of a draft it causes him to fall over.
