Ferris Tempted by Portugal at 13/5. No Kaka or Elano for Brazil...

I don't think Elano will be missed and tbf Kaka has so far been off the pace.
The Brazilians do look strong defensively,in fact I think they are now the new Italy whereas Argentina are more like the old Brazil,i.e "we can score more than the opposition."
BTW Germany are 7/4 against us which is a great value bet but difficult for an Englishman to do.

Why is 'England To Win On Penalties' and 'Germany To Win on Penalties' the same price? - England have a horrible track record, Germany have a near fautless one.

Presumably the prediction you're making is that it'll go to penalties - after that it's a 50/50.

Surely you of all people is familiar with the phrase "Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance."

Germany have missed a penalty in this world cup, England haven't, we should be favourites

I can see why you are asking the question, but it's not the same penalty takers for England that have missed over the years. If Batty, Waddle and Vassell were stepping up this Sunday, Germany would be well odds on. They may have a better track record, but come the first penalty of Sunday (if it happens), we start from a clean slate.

Also, when it comes to England, sensible prices go out of the window. Patriotic bets must be the lifeblood of the bookmaking industry. We were never third favourites to win the World Cup at the start, but the weight of money from Joe Public ensured that we were.

Under normal circumstances, Germany would be shades of odds on (10/11) to win on Sunday, the fact that they are 7/4 is because your general England mug would rather back England at all costs. Having never beaten a 'major country' in the World Cup knock-out stages since '66; it's candy from a baby for those bookmakers.

.....oh, and 7/4 is massive. I just can't bring myself to back the Germans and the cheer on England though. It's just not right is it ?

You are correct in that statement but we have penalty takers that consist of Lampard and Gerrard (who both missed four years ago + Lamps missing his last 2). Milner missed a spot-kick for England Under-21s in the semi-final of the European Championships last year and in the Europa League qualifier with Rapid Vienna.

Fiver says they've scored more penalties than they've missed.

In shop at Ladbrokes, it's 10/1 Germany and 11/1 England

Germany were eventually 2/1 in some places yesterday-what a price.
