I think what Gylfi's Dad said depends on what he was responding to in the interview. Was he specifically asked about why Gylfi left RFC, or did he just mention RFC out of the blue?

Yeah guess it all the depends on the true ambitions of AZ and how far he is willing to go in terms of spending on players.

I know all the papers were saying he wants European football at some stage but no one knows the true extent of what he ultimately wants to achieve in terms of position in the league etc. But the way I see it if we establish ourselves and then go on to get the new stadium build the academy facilities then our club is surely only to go from strength to strength hopefully he will want to be a part of that.

Doesn't matter where he goes he will always have Reading blood in him. Depending on who we get and how strong our squad is I think we could realistically be challenging in the domestic cup competitions. We would need a few lucky draws probably but its happened before! Obviously though id rather we just completley disregard both competitions and make the PL survival of Reading #1 priority.

I took it as meaning Spurs are confident of signing him ahead of Liverpool and Swansea, but not ahead of us. They're pretty much saying he's definitely going to Reading.

so has everyone just given up hope that he will sign for us? oh well, i love seeing this ambition from our new owner rather than watching us sell off our best players. even if we dont get gylfi having the ambition to go in for these type of players is at least 3-4 steps up from previous years.
