Dare to Dr£am
LoyalRoyalFan According to the Chronicle we're still after him.

And Michael Owen. Come on, you should know better than to listen to anything they or Jonny "I honestly don't read HNA" Fordham say until you see the player holding the shirt next to the gaffer.

Owens big into horse racing and like a lot of the other boys from liverpool from that era...their horses run the newbury racecourse all the time. Fowler was often at Newbury races, its a very popular venue. Not sure i'd want Owen though. Too injury prone.

Tbf if a player only signs for us because Reading is near a racecourse you'd have to question their commitment to the club.

Well, a lot of players sign for clubs based on geographic location. Thats not uncommon. I doubt he'd come here if it was the only reason or attraction.

Tbh I don't really want him, he's not a Reading signing and gets way too many injuries. I am just saying if he wanted to leave utd for regular football I can see why he'd look here.

totally unfounded internet rumour, but thought it was half interesting making the link from fordham's tweet to huddersfield:

Reading are set to sign Jordan Rhodes. Rumours have been rife all week that Reading were leading the way for the strikers signature, but the club have remained tight lipped.

Evening Post reporter Jonny Fordham has been ahead of the game all afternoon with the announcements of Jason Roberts and Polish U21 midfielder Tomasz Cywka signing today.

Fordham recently tweeted "Off to see a man about a dog."

This is before the Royals press conference set to take place this evening. It's only 2+2 but Huddersfield are nicknamed The Terriers!!

Could the deal be close to fruition? Watch this space.

Well, I'm still standing by the fact that Hammond, McD and a scout were all at a game very recently - you don't all go to watch someone unless you're there to do business. Now, it COULD have fallen through at some point, but I'm pretty sure they were there for Rhodes and no-one else and I won't be surprised if he is another signing before the end of January.

Lets be honest, Rhodes is going to cost at least 5 million by all accounts. That rules us out - whether we have investors or not.

We might be considering it for the summer.... but we've signed two strikers and an attacking midfielder already. We now have about 8 (EIGHT) strikers on the books. It's gotta be pretty unlikely given his value and the comments about "limited" funds.

Somehow I can't see Brian asking for £4m-£8m (taking into account wages) from potential investors either.

This is the thing - we must have known how much Huddersfield would want for him - but we still sent along McD and Hammond with the scout - just seemed strange to me.

There were at least 21 other players on the pitch so there's always a chance (yeah right) we weren't looking at him.

agreed, however that's assuming they want that much and want it all in one lump. it's more likely anyone buying him will want to spread some of the payments, and if it is a championship club then a proportion will almost certainly be based on promotion, premiership survival, etc. i don't think £3m would be out of our reach as an up front payment, especially if the 'potential' new investor is as driven as he appears to be. personally i feel we are done signing strikers in this window. the summer will be different.

It is just possible that we are really after Lee Novak - the rising star in the Huddersfied ranks. This lad is highly rated up here in Yorkshire and bears more than a passing similarity to a certain Shane Long!
