John Madejski's Wallet
Schards#2 Much as I dislike United, the Norwich player clearly pulled Wellbeck back and I'm astonished he wasn't red carded

Considering the pen was given, I was astonished the player didn't go

As for pulled back.... he brushed him, then Wellbeck dug his toes in the ground so he could go over. Still a dive imo

He pulled his arm back, regardles off what Welbeck does, it's a penalty

Its a penalty but nowhere near as big a pull back as Wellbeck made it. No red card though, it was Wellbeck so not a definite goal scoring opportunity etc etc. If I was the defender I'd have taken a chance and let him miss it. Are refs allowed to give the pen but book the player for simulation anyway?

"There was contact so I had every right to go down" is a dreadful scourge on football.

The rules talk about fouling, not just simply touching someone. Surely for it to be a foul, it would have to bring him down, impede him etc.. to just gently pull someone in no way gives them the right to throw themselves to the floor. That pull was never enough to put him off, the rest was simulation

Makes me laugh how Utd fans (not all admittedly) seem to think they will now run away with the title next season

Didn't Chelsea sign a top class manager this season too........what did they win?

Agreed.
I would like to know where all these world-class players are that are just waiting to sign for top clubs in Europe that have loads of money to spend.
With the world cup coming up expect to see signings of players that over-perform in the tournament and then get snapped up and then fail, e.g El Hadj-Diouf etc.

wait and see i suppose. I'm guessing United would have been one of the favourites for the title last year and Liverpool would have been expected to win f¨ck all

I thought that new lad James Wilson looks like a decent prospect, a decent finish for the first goal last night. Plus from watching SSN this morning he seems to have always played ahead of his age groups as he worked up through the ranks at United. The press already seem to be hailing him as the saviour of Man United next season given some of the reports from last night

He looks like a bit of a cocky pcunt though tbh.....i mean this celebration

Its something a Van Persie etc can get away with - 19 year olds, on their debut should just jump up and down and look excited - not like they've been doing it every week for 10 years in front of 60,000 fans

What you can't quite see on that pic is the two knee sized lumps of turf he took out of the pitch. That's the sign he's still learning his trade - got to get the goal celebrations right!

Rio now a free contract, back to Wet Spam? I'm sure they'd snap him up

On second thoughts he'd probably rather retire to a life of Premier League punditry for Al Jazeera
