lol@ German teams giving Hoffenheim grief for not having any "history"

History is what clubs like Liverpool talk about because they have no present

Hoffenheim are making their history now.

They have a 30,000 seater stadium which is apparently never full, and which also has the worst atmosphere in the Bundesliga, and the club is pretty much hated by everyone - think of a cross between "ChelSki" and Mk Dons and you'll be close (they're contemptuously known as "Hoppenheim" or "E18.99 Hoffenheim").

Do you mean a cross between Man City and MK Dons?

Hoffenheim lies just north of the E50 about 20 miles north west of Hellbron and 15 miles south east of Heidelberg. Nearest really big places are Stuttgart (approx 50 miles) to the south and Frankfurt (approx 75 miles) to the north. Nearest town is Sinsheim.

Cheers - so as a socio-geographical analogy it's a bit of a Wycombe or Thame, then.

From what little I know of Germany Heidelberg is about as twee as Germany comes. I was hoping Hoffnhm might be a kind of German Port Vale or Accrington. Still at least Gylfi should feel at home.
