I'm convinced the glut of manager sacking over the past few weeks is all to do with the timing of the transfer window.

A new manager can do so much more to make changes in January than they can in February onwards.

A big part of the success or not of the management of a club is how the manager fits in at the club and his relationship with the powers that be.

Someone like Parky, who knows the club inside out and seemed to have a good relationship with the Chairman has a head start in that respect. Having the backing of the fans is also pretty important and helpful, especially if there's. Lot of improvement needed and patience required to get there.

Obviously none of the above really helped Rodgers (although he reportedly didn't have that good relationship with certain powerful individuals) but in many cases it does. Any appointment takes a bit of luck and helpful circumstances to succeed and I'd say former players are just as successful as non-explayers.

I quite like the way Parky has his teams play. They generally pass the ball but don't over complicate things and he seems to do ok as a manager to me. Depending on our circumstances when McDermott leaves I'd quite like Parky as manager, and that's partly sentiment if you like because understanding how the club ticks and 'getting it' helps keep the soul of the club.

Not good enough for RFC.

3 points off 2nd place.

Absolutely barmy. With the snow, that distorts things. It's 5 league games since their last win, 3 of those have been draws with 2 defeats. They lost the JPT region semi final on pens in that time and beat Luton in the FA Cup.

Repeat, absolutely barmy.

Decent no2, but not a manager.

I'd say he's 50/50 so far. Don't think he's been treated very well there, new owners often bring their own manager in.

Wasn't that 5-game winless streak preceded by about 6 wins in a row, too?

5 wins in the league, plus a draw and win against Barnet in the cup.

Did well with Colchester and then had a bit of a nightmare with Hull. Sometimes managers, as with players, just don't fit in with a club.

Most managers have a blot on their CV so I think he's still looking like a decent young manager (if he counts as young still that is). There are plenty of managers with a worse record who will still get decent jobs.

Apparantly Johnson "didn't see eye to eye" with the Chairman..........

.....in other words, Gary Johnson didn't take too kindly to that pillock of a Peterboro Chairman telling him what side to play!

LOL, brilliant! BBC South were camped outside Dean Court the other day when a sheepish looking Howe was dragged outside the ground with smug looking club officials in tow, the news that Eddie was to stay was announced and was greeted by huge cheers from a group of supporters who had for some reason gathered outside the club offices

Burnley have been interested all along.
I thought Howe had something lined up for the end of the season because he turned down two southern clubs this week.
He would be mad IMHO not to move-the club have already sold their two main strikers this season so the current league position may end up being false.

His star is now at it's very brightest and it only needs Bournemouth to slip down the league and out of the play-off spots for that star not to look so bright.
Also although he has done a great job he has had a number of his mates around and playing for him so it is difficult to know how good he would be with a whole bunch of players that he doesn't know as would be the case with Brian McD if he moved on.
BTW the club is still skint.

Just goes to prove that the first question a manager asks a potential new club isn't "How much will I get paid" but "How much will I get to spend?"
