Doesn't make sense? Why would he bottle playing Real when he was their MOM in the San Siro in the last round?

If he wasn't ill, then there is something else at work here. I don't see him as a bottle job.

Doesn't make sense i agree but can you see someone like John Terry pulling out of tonights game cos of "a sore throat" ?

Thing is, in a game as big as that, the players have a responsibility to the fans and team mates to own up if feeling dodgy...

Whenever I get a cold I am acutely aware of the moment I get the first symptoms and know that within a few hours I am going to be rough as a dog. However big the occasion if he had the same sort of experience then he did the right thing.

(Don't know why I'm posting really as I didn't even know the headline story until 5 minutes ago reading this thread. Oh well, back to work.)

Agreed. But could be many other things. For example footballers always fib about how injured they are because they want to play. Lennon may have been hiding an injury because he is desperate to play, then at the last minute realised it was too serious, told the manager, who, not wanting to look like he didn't know the state of his own players, made up a story about a sore throat rather than admitting it was something more serious. which he should have known about.

Or, he's been talking performance enhancing drugs, panicked he was going to get tested, so made up a fake illness that is difficult to prove one way or the other.

Or he bottled it.

Or he did have a genuinely really sore throat and couldn't play.

Lots of reasons possible, just don't think it's fair to immediately suggest he's a bottle job.

I've not seen extended highlights of either game so am looking forward to them tonight, but I saw Stankovic's goal on SSN and all I can say is .

Now that is what I call technique.

It was reminiscent of Robert Rosario's volly for Norwich, only not as good as the keeper was way off his line.

Most interesting issue about tonight is how will Kes support Chelsea, whilst simultaneously kissing The Marauding Dog's arse?

Tyldesley and Townsend really are the Brayson/Fleck of commentating aren't they?

Camera cuts to Chelsea fan in a stupid wig just as Townsend commences 45 second diatrible apropos nothing much of interest. I thought to myself: "Tyldesley will be fidgeting in his seat, waiting to say something droll about bewigged Chelsea fan". Townsend diatribe ends with no-one anything the wiser about anything, Tyldesley immediately interjects with droll comment regarding wig.

The sad thing is for Townsend, I was actually loking forward to the wig comment such is the level of disinterest provoked by Townsend's insight.

Another irritation - the we'll do what we want chant. The football song equivalent of the asbergers school bully who it is eventually discovered actually has an IQ of 42 and goes on to work on the bins before murdering a schoolgirl.

As an alternative:

He'll do what he wants
He'll do what he wants
Glazers got you by the balls
He'll do what he wants

What do you reckon Torres' pass completion rate is tonight? Every time he gets the ball, a Chelsea move seems to come to an end with a misplaced pass or poor touch.

Absolute shadow of the player we saw a year or 2 ago. Very sad.

Has Torres scored for Chelolsea yet?

One of the saves of the season from VDS a minute ago. Torres connected beautifully with a cross and he somehow palmed it away and looks like he's tweaked a hammy for his troubles.

Terrific result for United if they come away with a 1-0.

CheLOLsea.

Chelsea denied a good penalty call, then a minute later Torres booked for diving for a penalty, a blatant dive, the cheating kunt.

United win 1-0 :D

Lumped money on him not scoring for the rest of the season a couple of weeks back...
