Is there much point taking Rooney to the Euros if he only gets to play 1 game?

Nah, was more of a LOL at how inevitable it was, and typical my accumulator was ruined by it.

That's a killer. I had 3-2 Montenegro at 150/1 - could have done with that equaliser going in earlier.

Unlucky. Montenegro should have had a penalty as well.

Proper LOL at the bloke who got booked for "diving" in the box towards the end - he got knocked over by the ref whilst he was getting booked

One thing about Rooney's sending off I don't understand - how come his punishment is "set to be decided by UEFA"? Seems a little strange that the disciplinary "sentences" aren't announced before the qualifying games start :|

As a kid I remember it was an absolute rarity for an England player to be sent off. Rooney's making a habit of it. What an ugly character he is. Beckham was villified for being sent off for England. For whatever reason Rooney doesn't get the same treatment. He should. He's an appalling role model for young kids. Presumably he will be banned for the opening games of the Euro finals. Idiot.

Rooney wasn't exactly showered in praise after being sent off against Portugal in 2004.

I guess the difference between tonight and Beckham in '98 (and Rooney in '04 for that matter) is that England are still in the tournament after tonight's result. With the aforementioned other two, England were knocked out of the tournament after both.

Agree with your second point but Rooney got away lightly after being sent off against Portugal in 2006 compared with what Beckham had to put up with.

It used to be a big deal for an England player to be sent off. It is a big deal if he's now banned for crucial games in the Finals.

Fair point (and thanks for confirming the year - wasn't sure which tournament it was).

Lost interest in the England game at half time and listened to the Wales game instead. Sounded as if they played well, just a pity that Taffy Kanu didn't get a run out.

Ideal Well, again I was left with a feeling that England is a team of unmotivated, lazy, overpaid 50%'ers, they never put more than half of their max effort into it.

Also, FFS hire an English manager.

They have qualified though albeit from a poor group..but they really need to up it in time for next summer.
Agree about the English manager bit.
