St. Brynjar
Big Foot They're both about Frank Lampard, m8.

It's also about Keane, Vieira, Scholes and Gerrard etc.

Why? They're not the best midfielder in PL history :|

Frank has scored double figures in the last TEN Premier League seasons. Unbelievable.

Got to be Frank for consistency at the highest level. Scholes a close 2nd for me.

Depends how you define 'best' really. In terms of effectiveness it probably has to be Lampard, due to the sheer number of goals he's scored from midfield. Scholes' relative lack of goals and poorer disciplinary record puts him into second place imo.

If all you care about is goals, it's obviously Lampard. Given there's much more to midfield than just that. It's clear Scholes and Viera at least are ahead of him.

I want my midfielders to either support the defence by breaking up play like a Makelele/Carrick or be scoring goals and supporting the strikers like Lampard.

Vieria and Keane fall into the first bracket but Scholes' infamous inability to tackle means he offers no support here? Also, for such a great player respected by so many of his peers, he's not a leader character which means he can't bring any of those attributes to the team.

Lampard >>>>>>>>> Gerrard

Lampard can actually control the ball, pass it to a team-mate within 10 yards etc

I remember coming back from an away game in his first season and Chelsea had been away somewhere as well. Chatted to a couple of their fans and they didn't rate him at all. If only they'd known how good a player he was going to turn into.

Personally I'd say 203 goals tells its own story. Scholes was a cracking player but you can't argue with Lampard's firepower.

Scholes for me....

Scored 150 ish for united - if he had the regular penalty taker for United he would probably got close to 200 as well.
