Platypuss Goalkeeping is still :| though.

Hit and miss. The Spanish keeper just pulled off a very nice tip over the bar from another decent effort from distance and I recall the Dutch keeper doing something very similar the other day Vs the Chinese. The goal the Dutch conceded to lose, on the other hand, was a bit of a laughable cock-up between keeper and defender.

Much much better 2nd half.

Apart from an excellent goal Kirby got into so many great positions that just weren't spotted - she is a real star, and different class from the other striking options.

Greenwood and Williams were very good in the 2nd half as well.

I only saw the second half. Must admit I cheered when we scored. Proud of Fran too, obviously.

Mexico were awful really, offered nothing of any note.

England did well but then weren't up against much. Kirby was outstanding, also thought Aluko is a really dangerous player.

Should qualify now for the next stage (believe even a draw would do due to the best 3rd place teams also progressing).

Heard that England played defensively against France so nice to see that that approach was abandoned for Mexico as England look much better playing as an attacking group.

Won't win the tournament but will presumably do just what the men generally do and lose in the QFs

England have yet to go on beyond a Q/F in the World Cup. I geuinely think this is probably our best ever chance of breaking that duck. We were indeed defensive v France and played very well....apart from the mistake for the goal. Over the last year, we've really developed as a team and it is good to see we can adapt our playing style to the situation. We also have more options up front this time around too...rather than just relying on Kelly Smith's genius! We are finally pushing the very top teams in the world (the Wembley hammering dished out by Germany aside)...and I'm fairly confident that this tournament will be the one where we finally beat one of them in a competitive game!

I've tried watching some games - I just can't. Nothing worse than women acting like they're men.

The China Vs New Zealand group-match has just kicked off. Nothing much to reportl yet (Chinese corner. Nice save X2). NZ HAVE to win this or they are out and they haven't scored so far this tournament; although they have missed a penalty. They've only conceded one; mind).

Fairly even so far.

Half time: 1 -1. NZ dominated early possession but didn't convert that possession into chances. China had the best early chances to score from the above-metioned corners, both of which drew good saves from the Kiwi keeper. NZ , eventually, took the lead from a corner but China equalised 5 minutes before half-time fro an extremely ropey penalty for hand-ball that didn't go anywhere near anyones hands or arms.

Oh well... It ended 2 - 2 so the Kiwi's are out. They aren't happy about it either; basically being eliminated do to a penalty that wasn't. I think this ref may not be going much further in the tournament, either.

Bardsley looks like a cross between Bobby and Jack Charlton!

Norway are a rough looking lot. Not a looker amongst them.

Bardsley playing very well so...Fran doing some great defensive work but looks a bit short of confidence going forward.

Jonathon Pearce not knowing what a hair bobble is really does not help the woman's cause.
