Alan Partridge It's not though is it really, throughout the land you see shots go in where the ball has done right angles in the air. It's slightly more exaggerated with Ronaldo because apparantly he strikes the valve of the ball.

Get him a proper ball and see if he can do it.

Apparently it's got nothing to do with where he strikes the ball. He practises free kicks everyday. He's bound to be good at it.

Any vids of the Cashley incident?

Alan Partridge Sorry but this may be me not realising a genius at work, but these free kicks are a nonsense, these balls are just daft. Like plastic air floaters. Hit it and it goes 10 different ways into the net. Daft.

Confirmed by Ronaldo himself. After the goal against Pompey he said he had simply learnt a technique for hitting it that made it swerve a lot, he said he didn't know where it would go after leaving his foot.

Fair play to him for it, give you this ball then make the most of it, it looks absolutely brilliant but to me it's a bit false. The keeper goes the way the ball is going, it swerves all over the place and he's got ZERO chance of saving it if it's on target, it's not fair imo. Ronaldo is a tremendous player, absolutely sensational and his record this season is phenomenal but these free kicks just grate with me! Keepers union!

Jealousy killed the cat - and I'm not talking about Peter Bonetti.

Don't be daft!! for once!

Tell me how any keeper can save these free kicks?

Even ones that don't go right in the corner are unsaveable with the movement on them ,which is down to these stupid footballs.

You hit this ball with any power and it does all sorts. Not a natural path. Bring back the Mitre Multiplex!

Sounded a very good match. Commentators on 5 Live say it was probably the game of the season.

That challenge was horrible, far worse than Taylor's tackle. If that had been Taylor/Hunt/insert small club scapegoat then FIFA would be calling for a year's ban, but because it's big club Cole there'll be no fuss about it at all. And to complain about getting a yellow card!!

Think AP is being a bit extreme  but he's still one of the scummier people on the planet and symptomatic of the Premiership, one of the consolations if we do get relegated is that we won't be in a league with this graceless, arrogant, mercenary culture.

'£55,000 a week? They're taking the piss. I nearly crashed my car, I was so angry.'
