Rev Algenon Stickleback H Very similar to every small ground built these days. Four boring identikit stands without a single ounce of imagination going into the design.

Ever since Walsall asked for a carbon copy of Scunthorpe's ground, we've just seen clubs copying other clubs time after time.

Took Oxford so long to build their's, the "4 for the price of 3" offer had expired.

Coppelled Streets Colchester's Cuckoo Farm is coming along nicely ready for their 2008/09 League 1 Championship winning season.

Very similar to Bournemouth's but with a hint of class about it.

To be fair, there's so much cost involved that it'd probably save a few tens of thousands on design costs to copy another ground, which could make a big difference to smaller clubs. Besides, there's only so much that can be done with what is essentially a functional space. It's okay for the likes of Barcelona etc to spend a few million extra on making their ground a piece of art but it's probably beyond the reach of the smaller clubs.

other smaller clubs elsewhere seem capable of putting a tiny bit of effort into avoiding the MFI flatpack look that's so popular here, e.g.

also, all top-flight grounds that benefit from lucrative matches against big teams or hosting national teams, not to mention TV contracts, being able to pay peanuts for their players, and being able to pay relative peanuts on architecture/construction costs. LOL@ people moaning about modern stadium design, get over yourselves - you go and live in a Grand Designs house then

Their stadium isn't some amazing superstadium. It's just a little different from the clones we tend to see. That they've been in europe makes no difference. They weren't getting into europe when the stadium was designed, and their old place was a dump (the toilets at one end were literally a bit of plastic guttering on a low brick wall).

Why would being in Holland mean clubs would have to pay peanuts for architecture/construction costs?

And do you really think AZ pay their players less than lower division English teams?

The other two are from Norway and Moldova, who aren't exactly basking in TV riches.

the point was that with a little imagination it is possible to get beyond have four boring identical boxes, but if blandness floats your boat, then so be it.

RG30 Southend have also recieved planning permission to build a new 22,000 all seater stadium.

Theirs could be quite interesting looking...

Although I wouldn't want one of those flats.

Bristol Rovers £35million development of the Memorial Ground now in doubt after property developer Opal pull out due to the current "credit crunch". Any work won't start for a minimum of 12 months.

Preston start putting in the seats ready for the new main stand, taking the overall capacity of Deepdale to just over 22,000. Will be ready for the start of the season.

As announced last week, Rotherham are to move to the Don Valley Athletics stadium in Sheffield for financial reasons.

Colchester have been given permission to play the 1st 2 league games of next season away from home because of worries over the Cuckoo Farm ground. They'll also play the 1st game of the Carling Cup away from home.

Liverpool Council Leader Warren Bradley (Lib Dem) still hopeful of a ground share for Liverpool & Everton.

Spurs expected shortly to announce new plans for a £300million 50,000 capacity stadium to be built next to White Hart Lane.

Slavia Prague's new stadium.

I can't think why, but it looks strangely familiar for some reason.
