Can we see any Royals getting voted into the team of the year?

At a stretch, maybe Bennett.

It is going to be Ronaldo.

However, in terms of a 'value added' player of the year, I think James would be right up there. I think this has been one of his most consistent seasons ever and he's been in a very successful Portsmouth team. If you're talking about missing players out, then Vidic or Ferdinand? And Laursen at Villa has also had a very, very good season - but I guess they would only be 6th place, wouldn't they?

Young player of the year - again, Ronaldo - which is silly if he wins both (IMO). Torres in the list is a joke but any of the other four would be deserved winners.

Kes Ronaldo then Torres. Not sure how Gerrard is up for nomination. Wednesdays game against Arsenal highlighted how poor he is generally against good opposition.

Well the players vote for this one. But what do they know?

Obviously not much. Carvalho should be nominated.

I find it quite disappointing that all the choices are so tedious when it's their peers who are supposed to be doing the voting. Surely they can be a bit more imaginative? Or are there really only a handful of good players in the league?

Also if all the defenders are voting for Torres and Ronaldo, who are the attackers voting for? The same players is the obvious answer, but surely they would know more about the talents of Vidic, Laursen, Bikey etc. :|

Seems like players' opinions are formed by Match Of The Day as much as anybody else's are.

Hoop Blah I was going to suggest Leon Osman, but it turns out he's almost 27!!!

I thought he was one of the Rooney generation. In fact, I was thinking he was the one who took Rooney’s youngest scorer record, but I remember now that was James Vaughan.

Was it not Milner who took Rooneys record?

And I think Vaughan took it off Milner.

No surprise that Ronaldo wins the main award - however, I fail to see how Fabregas can with the Young Player of the year when Ronny is in the same category

People were seriously pissed off that Ronaldo couldn't be arsed to turn up - and also that in the video they did he couldn't be arsed to dress up smartly. It was seen as arrogant and disrespectful to his fellow professionals.

PFA Premier League Team of the Year
David James (Portsmouth), Bacary Sagna (Arsenal), Rio Ferdinand (Man Utd), Nemanja Vidic (Man Utd), Gael Clichy (Arsenal), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal), Cristiano Ronaldo (Man Utd), Ashley Young (Aston Villa), Emmanuel Adebayor (Arsenal), Fernando Torres (Liverpool).

Not a bad line-up, though I'd have swapped Barry for Gerrard and Evra for Clichy. Slightly lacking on the CheLOLsea front, too.

As they said during the game on Saturday Kes, hardly any Chelsea players have managed more than 20 games this year, so no great surprise they didn't make the team of the year

Plus none of them should be in it anyway

Gerrard has given the ball away more times than Stephen Hunt this season - how the hell did he get nominated for player of the year?

Football's equivalent of a flat track bully.

LOL @ "fellow professionals" who haven't got the biggest game of their season within 48 hours complaining about Ronaldo not turning up to a predictable evening of self-congratulatory back-slapping.

And/or LOL @ anyone being upset that the famously humble Ronaldo was "arrogant and disrespectful".

I'd guess it has something to do with being the driving force behind a side that's reached the CL semi-finals and maintained their 4th spot in the league, that and scoring 20 something goals and being one of the most most difficult players to play against for his 'peers.'

Flat track bully or not, he's been as influential as ever for Liverpool this season.

Maybe the FA shouldn't schedule such an event 2 days before a CL Semi.
MASSIVE training session for United Monday morning, last one before the game. You don't want your best player turning up ragged after a late night trip back from London.
