TheMaraudingDog The rise of City could be the demise of Liverpool.

That has to confuse you aggers!

BTW if you were a Chelsea fan would you not be a bit nervous that now that Roman isn't the biggest boy in the playground he might decide it's not worth it any more and feck off?

Not nervous at all.

You are only going off hearsay that Roman isn't the biggest boy in the playground anymore and also because City got Robinho. Nobody knows how much money Roman has. The fact that Madrid wouldn't do business with Chelsea and Robinho was so desperate to get out of Madrid he'd have joined anyone has made your mind up m8.

soggy biscuit I wouldn't say they won't win the league in the next 5 years. 5 years is an awfully long time and many things can change. Chelsea went from obscurity to League winners in 5 years, why can't City?

Chelsea hadn't gone 32 years without winning a trophy.
Pre RA they were recent winners of the FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Cup. They had already attracted exciting big names such as Gullit, Vialli, Zola and already had Terry and Lampard who went on to become and still are huge players for Chelsea. They are steps ahead of where City are now.

I actually think they will. Not only for the money they will earn but the fact that they are offering that will give an indication to them that other top players will be joining.

The Abu Dhabi United Group is a United Arab Emirates company, it is part of the state's sovereign wealth fund, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA).

The Group bought Manchester City Football Club, completing the takeover on September 1, 2008.

The deal was struck late on Sunday night between the club’s former owner Thaksin Shinawatra, former Prime Minister of Thailand, and ADUG.

It is rumoured that ADIA are worth anywhere in between £600billion and £800billion.
The US-educated Dr. Sulaiman Al-Fahim is the public face of ADUG and is often described as the "Donald Trump of Abu Dhabi".

The only financial issue affecting Arsenal is the sale of the Highbury housing. Lots of punters have placed deposits, whether they’ll follow through with the balance remains to be seen. The Emirates is a cash cow for Arsenal, and there’s money for team investment, Arsene just doesn’t want to spend it. Not sure that Arsenal can realistically win the Premier League, but the CL is a possibility, and qualification for that, year-after-year, keeps the money and players coming in.

The difference between Arsenal and Liverpool is stability. Even with Wenger’s ally Dein gone, it seems a pretty steady ship. Liverpool seems anything but. One American wants to sell, the other doesn’t. One wants Chief Exec Rick Parry to stay, the other doesn’t. One wants Benitez to stay, the other doesn’t. Benitez and Parry don’t get on, the board won’t back Benitez’s demands for players. They’re on their third plan for a new stadium and still they can’t afford it. Anfield just doesn’t generate anywhere near enough matchday revenue. Unless DIC or A.N.Other investment opportunity comes through, they’re really going to be left behind. Personally find it surprising that the Abu Dhabi group chose Man City over Liverpool.

I wonder if Shaun Wright-Phillips thinks he's just jumped from one situation at Chelsea and all of a sudden could find himself in the exact same one at City.

Berbatov and Huntelaar have both already come out and said that despite big money offers they turned Ciddy down, as they are second rank.

They'll never challenge us for the league but they'll probably win the Carling Cup so we have have to stop with the 32 years stuff.

On the plus side though it will only mean that United get pushed even further ahead of Liverpool. City can help plug the gap between us and Liverpool so not all bad.
