crossie I reckon the it was the Watford game. There's your reason for the goal. Dirty, cheating lino.

Apart from the bets took place at HT and the "goal" was in the first half.

Cos all the crooks in Asia then thought "Yes! It worked! Muhahaha. Let's put loads of money on for a draw."

They must have been cacking themselves then when we "let" Watford go 2-1 up....unless the ref was involved and hence gave us the pen with minutes to go.

If it is the Reading v Watford game then I think you are looking at the officials rather than the two teams. The teams did nothing wrong but the decisions beggared belief. The phantom goal, Bikey's disallowed goal, various other bits and pieces. Then we were awarded a penalty with a few minutes left but denied a stonewall one in stoppage time which could have given us the win.

crossie Zatley.

But it was a blatant pen though, which kind of takes that out of the equation - would have looked more dodgy if he hadn't have given it.

Plus as today it's been announced that the ref in that game has been promoted (or about to be) to the FIFA list by the FA, I think we can discount that game.

The only way it could be our game against Watford, is if, as someone alluded to earlier in the thread, the rumour went up that as our first "goal" wasn't actually a goal, we would either let them score or the ref would be more inclined to give them a dodgy decision to even things up. We even said ourselves at the game, "I bet the ref will defo even things up now and give them a dodgy pen" or words to that effect. So, a bit of guesswork from one or two people along those lines, then escalates and people decide to lump on for Watford to "equalise" beginning of second half.

Having said that, of course, it doesn't say which week, let alone which game!

As PistolPete suggested early in the thread, the Norwich-Derby game seems to be the one people are concentrating on.

Well, the Daily Mirror says (and I appreciate that that statement does rather call into question everything that follows it):
Up to 30 players could be quizzed by the FA over new match-fix claims, it emerged last night. The probe, which could involve five soccer clubs, was sparked by suspicious gambling on a Championship match this season......[Snip]....One of the clubs in the match under suspicion has had three people - one has since left - with current or previous gambling problems.

And of course, Roy Carroll is still at Derby.

BBC gossip column says last season

The FA is to investigate match-fixing claims into a Championship game last season after strange betting patterns. (Various)

Yes but Japan are 9 hours ahead of us so they already knew what was going to happen hence the strange betting patterns. I am surprised they don't do it every week especially when they know what the result is 9 hours before us.

Stoke v Scunthorpe has been mentioned as the game in question. Stoke were 2-0 down at half time and won 3-2 although there was only one contentious issue where a ball went out of play but it wasn't given and Stoke scored.

It's not that game unless there is an investigation into more games.
