cmonurz I'd like to see Swindon stay up, two Readingers (well, one ex-Readinger) doing the business there at the moment.

I'd like to see Swindon relegated despite that fact rather than because of it.

Because they are our 'local' rivals?

Since when did Swindon become Reading's rivals? It's not as though the "hatred" is really reciprocated is it? I'm hoping at some point in the not too distant future Reading get to play Aldershot Town. There's still a lot of anti-Reading animosity from shots fans, and any old school Reading fan will say that Aldershot are/were the "real" rivals.

I don't see how you can base 'rivalry' on location. It's not like you chose to be neighbours is it? Pathetic and ALL sports would be better off without it.

Reasons why Swindon stopped being our rivals is perhaps more pertinent.

I can't believe the Swindon/Headington United rivalry can be all that deep-rooted.

but it is. They each consider themseleves to be rivals and we are a distant second for Oxford, and maybe also even behind the Bristol clubs for Swindon.

defo Aldershot for RFC fans who started following in the 70's. Nothing wrong with that.

I am an old school Reading fan and Swindon were always the rivals, at least during the mid to late 60s. Aldershot were in Div 4 and not really noticed unless it was FA Cup season.

Totally agree. After starting to watch in the 60s, Sw*ndon were always the big local rivals. O*ford had only been around since '62 and the Shite were permanently entrenched in Div 4.
