Agreed. I know Allen's particular style of man management has a shelf life and he has a knack of making himself unpopular in the board room but Gillingham have been a yo-yo club for the past 5 or 6 years and, although they struggled early on, he finally seemed to be getting things right in the last couple of weeks.

You do wonder if there is more to this than just results

It does seem harsh but as I've said many many times on here over the last 10+years, if you want a quick hit / quick fix in the lower leagues then Martin Allen is your man, but long-term, he just won't carry the respect.

9 teams in 10 years and back out of work.

When Alan Brazil gets fed up with Warnock undermining him on Allen will be straight in there!

URZZZZZ Coach Holger Osieck has been sacked by Australia after his team were defeated 6-0 by France in a friendly on Friday.

And after the Socceroos had been defeated 6-0 by Brazil in their previous match last month.

Guus Hiddink is rumoured to be in line for the job now, although he's also considering offers from Denmark, Hungary and Poland.

Aussie m8s very much against the idea of Hiddink - think he is too 'old school'

I am amazed that there's only been 6 managerial changes in England (and Wales, I suppose) (PL, Champ, L1 & L2, just for the pedantic)

Di Canio
Clough
Weir
Allen
Abbott
Blackwell

It certainly feels like a lot more.

Since 1st June there's been 14, and only one from League 2 (current League 2, at least)
More surprisingly (to me anyway), there's been a 25% turnover in the Premier League since 1st June

Giampaolo Mazza resigns as manager of San Marino after 15 years. During his reign, San Marino won one point.

Mowbray goes. Fair play to this fan on the BBC site though...

Good decision. Changing managers regularly keeps the opposition guessing. Look at Bayern, Chelsea and Man City as examples.

Bring in John Barnes with Garth Crooks as assistant and soon we will be challenging automatic playoffs

Once again the mighty Boro providing headlines for the lower leagues. Undoubtedly the biggest club outside the Prem

To be fair to Boro, they've been awful since the turn of the year. Mowbray was given a lot longer than most clubs would have given him to turn it around.

Yes, it's refreshing in a way - but Gibson has always struck me as a very fair and sensible owner. Mowbray was a club legend as a player, and it was good to see him get a few years, and in general the support of his boss and the fans.

Right decision. Not sure who they'll bring in though, Pulis or Clough seems the obvious choice but they don't need another pair of steady hands after McClaren, Southgate, Strachan and Mowbray. Maybe O'Neill could do a job if they can afford him.

Why is that funny? He was once training me at Thatcham Town and since then has been on the coaching staff at Reading, Coventry, Fulham and managed Blackburn. He'll probably be on a decent wage in Singapore.

Just putting it in to perspective where came from and where he is now. He's done pretty well for himself.

Tbf going from coaching Thatcham Town Under 15's reserves to working as a manager in Singapore is a big achievement.
