Coyle has been damaged goods since Stoke burst his ego in that 5-0 thumping of Bolton in the FA Cup Semi Final. Wouldn't touch him if my club were any higher than League 2, he needs to rebuild his career much lower than Champ level.

Dave Whelan has found if difficult to get his face all over the media now they're in the Championship so this will guarantee him a few SSN interviews.

I'd like to see someone like Karl Robinson be given a chance at a "bigger" club....

Since the first day of the season ONLY 17 managers have gone - 19%

3 in PL, 5 in the Championship, 6 in League One and 3 in League Two

We have certainly reached the silly season - I think 7 of those have been in the last two weeks.
I guess the various chairmen are preparing themselves to use what they can of the transfer window with a new man to back (or otherwise)

We need a Snowball type to work out whether any of theses teams are doing better than they were before the changes

The Racing Post did an article on this a couple of years back. It proved quite conclusively that, on average, a teams results do not improve in the short term after a manager is sacked. Its just perceived that they improve because people only remember the instances when they do.

There is always the question "if the other guy had stayed, would things have got better?"

Take Southampton; they sack NA and replace him with a guy no-one has heard of who can't speak English and who has never managed in the Premier League and even Matt Le Tissier was ranting about it - yet anybody REALLY think NA would have them as high as they now are? Whilst its pretty well obvious that anyone coming into Sunderland would have done a better job than Di Canio was doing (or could ever do), the majority of Managerial removals are because the board need a sacrificial scapegoat to appease the fans, whilst conveniently forgetting that it was they who employed the bloke in the first place.

I'm all for Managers not being allowed to leave/be sacked (except for gross misconduct like any employee) during the season.

It's working out well for Derby at the moment. McLaren does seem to have turned them round right from the off up there.

Good for him. Wigan should have nabbed him when they had the chance.

Not sure NA would want to take a step down

And Whelan's cloth cutting this season makes ours pale in comparison - £25m sales - little investment and 14th place is no surprise. God only knows what the Wigan HNA equivalent makes of that

It is a situation that always likely to happen with Wigan though. Whilst it was great to see another of the "little guys" like ourselves duking it out in the top league, as soon as they came down they were always going to have to sell most of the squad to keep themselves in some sort of vague financial shape.

Didn't they sign something like 14 players though? - surely it takes time to bed/blend?

Crawley appoint John Gregory, Brizzle City set to appoint Steve Cotterill. Two really shit choices right there.

Palace did. I don't recall Wigan signing that many. There's going to be a fire sale at Palace next summer too. Anyone for another year older, another injury hit season further on Kebe next July?
