Remember, you never win things with kids. Just 7 of last night’s Arsenal team under 25, and that’s with Eboue, Van Persie and Walcott all absent.

I can't see Man Utd not dropping any points and Arsenal dropping 5 points in the next 12 games.

Although huge game on Saturday, if Man Utd win that and go within 2 points of Arsenal the pressure will be on. Must win for them.

It's the FA Cup on Saturday.

Next set of games sees Arsenal away to Birmingham at lunchtime. I think the pressure might then be going the other way.

I support Arsenal in Europe (thinks hard, hesitates: yes I suppose I do) and against any direct rivals of Reading.

I also like Arsène and admire Thierry Henry, Fabregas etc.

But they are still my (irrational?) hate team, based on:

a: the seventies and eighties.............er, and the nineties and noughties.
b: the sort of Brit over here that supports them. All freemason Tories...called Simon (really).

ps the French luuuuurve them too. "They are so sophistiqué"

pps I love Seb in spite of what I wrote in b. above.

How Benitez must regret his tinkering. And Rob Styles.

If Liverpool had held on to win against Chelsea, and beaten Birmingham and Wigan at home (instead of drawing), they would be 5 points off the top.

Agreed. The bloke is a tragic mistake in league management. Too clever for his own good.

Victor Meldrew I think Man Utd will probably finish 4th or at best 3rd which is where the bookies now have them.

At the end of the day Chelsea showed that when the pressure is on in an important game they couldn't even beat Bolton at home.

The result didn't matter anyway in the end. Man United deserving champions. A good season for Chelsea though. Lots of injuries to key players for long periods of the season and the African Cup of Nations hindered our chances.

Katie Marsden 1. Man Utd - Strength in depth and numerous world class players
2. Chelsea - Grind out results and will push United fairly close
3. Arsenal - Expect them to do very well with no pressure
4. Liverpool - Pressure will be on and they'll bottle it by October as usual

Spot on mate.

Utd are going to struggle as they only have the one real striker and he's a big baby who is incapable of playing with a gnat bite. I can see them finishing 4th.

Victor Meldrew Katie,
Just look at who Man Utd have played.
Reading
Man City
Spurs
Pompey
Sunderland

Not the hardest start to a season and Fergie was bigging it up about how a fast start to the season is essential.
Liverpool have already played 2 clubs that will probably be in the top 6 in Villa and Chelsea so I for one am very pleased with the start that they have made.

As you know I believe Man Utd to be more of a one-man side with Ronaldo missing than Gerrard missing for Liverpool(probably the two best players in the country) and they have looked very ordinary without him and if he were to get injured it would be all up for them..
I think Man Utd will probably finish 4th or at best 3rd which is where the bookies now have them.
If I didn't want Liverpool to win it I would be backing Arsenal at 7/1 which strikes me as great value for a mainly young and improving side.

Katie Marsden You're making a rod for your own back as usual Victor. It will be nice to quote that post later on in the season. Wait untill at least November/December before hyping up a side that finished 20 points off the pace last season.

To win the league you need wingers who will score plenty of goals. Liverpool don't have that. You also need a settled side and Benitez will constantly rotate. He's too negative away from home to be a success in this country.

United have made a decent start considering they've been without Rooney, Ronaldo and Saha. They scored almost 60 goals combined last season and it's no surprise they've struggled badly without them.

Let's resume this discussion when the season has got going properly.

Spot on as per usual Alad.

Garry Mann I would dispute that, for a number of reasons which I can't be fully arsed to go into.

Indeed; your reply looked pretty half-arsed to me.

Half arsed but correct.
