I don't understand the LOLz, he was hired as interim manager (aren't they all etc etc) so why wouldn't he be referred to as such?

Can't understand Chelsea, their problem is the power certain players hold in the dressing room. Nothing undermones a manager mre than the players knowing he isn't going to be there in the long term so Benitez hasn't a hope of addressing this. I can't see how they will be any better off under him than persevering with Di matteo. Oh, and the fans hate him too.

Their season, just months after winning the Champions League, has turned into an utter shambles.

Shame really

All that public fanfare and discussion about him be interim manager etc, I don't understand where the surprise or LOLz come from.

Agree Schards, they're treading water hoping that Guardiola comes in when he wants to but the talk in the papers over the weekend is that he won't work for Abramovich because of his trigger happy scaking record.

Most of what the club does makes little or no sense, so I guess it shouldn't come as a shock.

Deffo shambles. Whilst we draw 0-0 at home to City amidst the club being in turmoil, the steady ship that is Reading lose 3-2 at Wigan and have only won once this season. Stability is the key.

I just cannot see PG going to Chelsea.

Thing is, as soon as RDM dropped Torres and they failed to perform against Juventus his hours were numbered.

I'm not sure most Chelsea fans would see bettering Reading's performance as a benchmark.

The real problem with Chelsea is they have an owner who runs the club like he is playing a real life version of Championship manager. None of the fans are brave enough to put up a banner telling RA to do one?

A mention of City and Reading by me - and Schards is first to respond. 8)

http://newsthump.com/2012/11/26/football-fan-theory-in-chaos-as-chelsea-fans-remember-things-said-about-them/

Current football fan theory was left in tatters last night after witnesses claimed to have seen clear evidence of Chelsea fans remembering what Rafa Benitez said about them over two years ago.

The new Chelsea manager was subject to abuse and chanting from his own fans in what many described as a ‘incredible demonstration of memory skills’ from the Chelsea supporters.

Until this point the accepted wisdom within the research community was that Chelsea fans acted on impulse alone, with their actions controlled by the Amygdala part of the brain, and only the stimuli in their immediate vicinity.

However, incessant chanting at a man who called them “passionless flag wavers” over two years ago suggests they have the ability to recall past experiences, and adapt their behaviour accordingly.

As one witness described, “I’m not sure if they all remembered, or if they were led by one fan who somehow developed memory capability – but it was incredibly impressive nonetheless.”

The new evidence will lead to a re-evaluation of all currently held beliefs about the behaviour of Chelsea fans.

“We must throw away the book on Chelsea fans – this changes everything,” insisted one researcher.

“Yesterday’s chanting points to a moderately functional cerebrum, from which they are drawing past experiences to influence current behaviour. This is groundbreaking stuff.”

“It’s a bit like when we saw that bird using tools to forage for food a couple of weeks ago. Except with tattoos.”

Never thought I'd see the day when a Chelsea fan draws comfort from bettering Reading. I remember when they used to measure themselves against Man United. How times change.

Rattloled doesn't even begin to describe the current shambles at Chelsea. Combine this with the Glasgow Rangers situation (and Reading soon to be riding high in the Premiership) and we have the perfect season.

Or 50,000/60,000 fans like we used to get.

It was another example of people saying 'stability is key'. Obviously it isn't. I could have used Arsenal for an example again.

Kes - If the fans are unhappy with the managerial change why were there no banners or chants against Abramovich at the weekend?

All digs and pokes aside, I think the importance of stability is diluted when you have infinite funding.

You can't take away the success Chelsea have had, even with the merry-go-round of managers the past umpteen seasons. But surely even you would admit the 'almost but not quite' feeling of Chelsea would no doubtably be improved with a stable, regular manager at the helm.

I could be wrong, but weren't Chelsea most successful under Jose who, in Chelsea terms could be regarded as long term?

Chelsea will always be in the mix on the account of Abramovich's millions. But you can't help but think what a force they could truly be if he kept his involvement cash only.

A club like Reading needs stability because (subject to a surprising turnaround) we don't have the cash to compensate. I guess you guys have the money to survive X Factor managering, we don't.

Because he's their daddy and he buys them trophies.
